Charleston Daily Mail | Mike Casazza: Luck speaks for first time on facility projects

I wonder why Mikes views differ so much from old man river?

"Once more, though, Luck didn’t have to tell anyone that because the explanations surrounded him. One floor below him was the much-maligned concourse level of the Coliseum, the one that’s 102 restroom units and 21 concession stand transaction units short of federal standards. Think of how long that’s been neglected to fall that far behind.

"If you’re a skeptic, recall the problem WVU had with the play clock in the stadium for the Oklahoma game in 2012. It was out for a while and it was a bad look for the Mountaineers. Huge pieces of pyrite had come to the surface through the years and on that night busted the box that kept the play clock running. Think of how long it was neglected to cause a problem like that. "

The entire scoreboard system in the stadium was BRAND NEW in 2008...... Guys WVU has a self supported athletic department, and the money simple was not there to do major upgrades, and someone will have to prove to me that there are federal standards for concession stand numbers.

OK, BB, WVU should do what ALL the other schools together are doing? People are saying to close the other end of the stadium in, shit we cant fill what we have, I wonder why, DC? Could it be that the tickets are priced out of the reach of people? 28,000 empty seats for the season finale, Hell, the stadium was not full for a single game last season.

I get so fucking tired of reading about how poor WV is... here... or any other message board site.

No shit... WV is poor. But, in looking at the list of the poorest 5 states in the country... what do we find?

Mississippi... Alabama... Arkansas... Kentucky. Do the residents of those states have any problem with spending money to see their beloved student-athletes? Do they complain about the money being spent to upgrade their stadiums or facilities?

Why do some West Virginians have this mindset?

I truly don't get it...

And don't forget Nebraska!...or Oregon!

Dont even mention Oregon, they get everything they desire from their benefactor. Whether BB and you like it or not, WVa is indeed a poor state, and the fact that there are 10,000 empty seats at a home game against Oklahoma tells the tale. Since Holgorsen has been our coach, the stadium has been full FIVE times, Against Marshall, LSU, and sPitt in 2011, and against Baylor and KSU in 2012, I keep hearing from you guys how much WVU fans want to see Oklahoma and Texas, :bullshit:, more people turned out to watch us play Kansas in 2012 than OU, More people came to see us play Marshall than UT.

Of the schools listed as state universities from the piss poor states of the USA… I don't know if any of them have self-sustained athletic departments.

As we know… that influences the prices of season tickets at our great university.

Where to go with that, Arkansas, Alabama, and Kentucky are MUCH wealthier than WVa. PLUS look on the WVUGAME website, then try to buy a season ticket for $365, you will find that you must make a mandatory gift to the MAC for anything but a few seats, with that "donation" between $125 and $1000 PER SEAT.

Where to go with that…

Go to the WVU ticket site I provided… and you will find the family fun zone requires no donation.

Not sure how you can say those states you listed are MUCH wealthier… I provided the link to the 5 poorest states in the country…

Here is a link to another reference if you're too lazy to go back a page….

Just taking a wild ass guess here…

But, I would say that the college football fans in Kentucky… Alabama… Arkansas… and Mississippi… place purchasing season tickets and attending their favorite school's home games near the top of their priority list of annual expenditures.

WVU has a bunch of fair weather fans… and fans like WVU DAD… who are fans in name only. They don't support the school's programs with an investment in tickets. They rather bitch and complain…

Yea, BB, spending 5% of your family income on football tickets makes sense to me, It is a MUCH higher priority to buy football tickets than to say, pay the bills, have a car, eat, etc. 33,000 for the home finale says it all, fair weather or not, the team is not up to the price being charged. People are at their wits end with Holgorsen as coach, produce BIG this year, or people will stay away to the point that Luck will be dropping ticket prices like Ohio did a few years ago. By the way, good luck buying those family fun zone tickets, in case you didnt notice, it said renewals first, then new folks if some are left. Of course if things keep going how they are, buying tickets wont be a problem.......
