Plus, aren't some of the NFL teams actually funding some of these "fantasy" sites?(which of course are really beting)...Its seems like the commish is the one with the current problem. If he keeps up this attitude, I'm not sure how long he will last in the postion.
I have no idea why Goodell has a hard on for Vegas. He says it's about gambling, yet takes games to London and Mexico where there is legalized gambling.
Vegas not only do they have legalized gambling, they are also the police on gambling fixes
Any questionable money is quickly looked at and if there might be questionable action they close that game and notify the head of the sport in question.
I heard today that if you are using a NFL Office phone you are not allowed to call the 702 area code. Not sure if that true, but I wonder if the NFL knows Vegas now has two area codes and Reno's code is different.

Does that include Blandino?

Las Vegas has always made sense to me on multiple levels: Plenty of space, plenty of money, would instantly become a top Super Bowl destination, etc... But there are two issues I see:

1) This is a 44 acre site. Compare that to the 300 acres Kroenke is building on and the 157 acres the Chargers/Raiders were looking at in Carson. With Vegas in the middle of the freaking desert, I'm sure they could find a more spacious location.

2) Vegas has a lot of people but most are lower income. I wonder how they'd do on ticket sales. I'm sure a lot of out of towners would attend games, but wonder how good the home field advantage would be. Although Raider fans do travel well, so they're one of the best teams to go there.

Vegas is in the middle of the desert but it's already butting up to mountains on the East and West and against an Indian reservation to the North. Soon Vegas will have houses on the California state line. I agree they need to fund more land if they truly plan in a NFL team here.

From what I heard earlier this week, several (many?) casinos have stepped forward to say that they would kick into a "Downtown" stadium and that $3B has been pledged to by the property and build an 80,000 seat stadium.
Sound like people have a truckload of spare cash that they'd like to spend. My guess is that it would be the most opulent, comfortable and best operated franchise in the history of the NFL.

It also would seem to be the perfect site for the annual Super Bowl. Plenty of hotel space. Great restaurants. Family venues and entertainment. What more could the NFL ask for, other than a cut of the bets on the game.

No offense(though not sure why you would take any lol), but I have never quite understood this argument. When it comes down to it, what makes a game in Vegas any more susceptible than anywhere else? If anything, wouldn't a game in Vegas be cleaner than any other just because there would be much more scrutiny?

It's simply the association, IMO. In other words, "it doesn't look good." The NFL (and most pro sports in this country) are so averse to any negative press, and any connection with gambling, that they can't even consider this option.

I think a team called Raiders in a town like Vegas is perfect

It'll never happen. Too many opportunities for match fixing and shenanigans. My sources are telling me "no way" on Vegas getting a pro team of any kind.

You don't really believe that, do you? Vegas is the one place that can police betting better than anywhere else. That is a fact since they are studying where all the action is coming from at all times.

And if you DO think it's a real concern, why not just ban betting on that team in Vegas. I remember staying at the Palms when the Maloofs owned the Casino and the Sacramento Kings. They just didn't allow you to bet on the Kings there.

With all the off-shore/online places to gamble it's really old-fashioned to look at Vegas as a bad place for a sports team anymore.

I agree, but the NFL is still an old-fashioned entity in many ways. If they think they would lose viewership because of being associated with Sin City, they'll never move there.

The owners will never vote it in on the silly grounds of protecting the integrity of the game...

But...Lawsuit...like Father, like Son.

Made him 2nd fiddle to SD in LA, Man has no lease in OAK, can't force him to stay there.

Yeah, I don't think it will happen, either. But the notion that sports betting only happens in Vegas is just outdated. Fixing an NFL game would be almost impossible(unless you get to the refs).

P.S. I don't think there is anything that will cause the NFL to lose viewers.

.....why not...?!,....new jersey has two nfl/teams with Atlantic-City nearby,......ma. will have 3-casinos built [soon] where pats are, .......ca$inos will be everywhere/what's the fkkn big deal,.......somebody tell roger/NFL/elderly-owners that the mob left Vega$.

The mob left Vegas ? I respectfully disagree they just got smart and take a smaller cut of a bigger pie very quietly and legitly.

The mob left Vegas Im Smiling as I envision Don Corleone laughing at the thought.

But to your point who cares if the Raiders go to Vegas

So tell me, why aren't there any teams of the Big 4 in Vegas?

You really think the NFL is impossible to match fix?

The Raiders in Vegas would be great. I would drive up there to watch them vs the Rams in L.A.

Too bad the NFL would never allow it.

Honestly I really don't know. The "Mob" like in the old days is long gone IMO but I honestly believe they have a way bigger presence than most think. Who knows and I honestly really don't care. Move the Damn Raiders to Vegas the shit hole stadium they are in now is pathetic. It will be interesting to see what happens and where they land .
