We get commits saying they are going to "University of LSU" all the time.

The whole thing was very shady.

Texas is a great academic school, but they dont have insane athlete academic standards.
They might be a little tougher than the rest of the Big 12, but they dont kill themselves like Stanford or Wisconsin.

He signed his NLI, but was too lazy and stoned to take a simple PASS/FAIL highschool class.
OU was the only school in the Big 12 with lax enough academic standards to get around that fact by a loophole.

I dont have anything against the kid, but I think the writing is on the wall for Stoops.
Taking in DGB, reinstating Joe Mixon.......

Stoops is a good coach, but this is how things usually start going south in a hurry when problem kids start getting in the school to bolster a flagging on field product.

Most OU fans on here are getting a little angry with it as well. It is a bad look for them.

Yeah, I don't think Lampkin would've got into any Texas school without taking a foreign language. I know back when I was in school (14yrs ago) you needed two years of a foreign language to get into college.

Really? I thought that a tuition check that didn't bounce was sufficient for admission to Houston. Of course, I was a mere JC transfer.

When I applied in 1997, A&M had the same requirement. But even to graduate HS we had to have 2 years, and those two requirements are directly related.

At Houston if you can rap 1 mike jones or paul wall song all the way through that counted as your foreign language.

absolutely.

I had two years in high school, and everybody who was going to college took foreign language, even football players.

I'm not sure then about getting into Texas colleges, but at UT, I passed out of all the foreign language requirements and thus didnt have to take anymore.

all I can remember about my Spanish classes, was that first little convo you have to learn:

First person: Hola! que tal?
second per: Bastante bien, y tu
FP: como estas?

well that's all I remember of it...

Same. I went bachelor of science route. Prefered the extra bio and chem to LIT and spanish classes.

...and that the teacher gave me the name, Jaime, because there wasnt one for Jeff, and my friends kept calling me 'Jaime'...we'd be in the huddle in a game, and my friend would say 'Jaime, why letting that punk block you?"

...and there was the fat girl junior in our class when we were freshman, and the teacher gave her the name "Matilde" and she had a crush on my friend, so I gave him shit over that.

Did a lot of laughing in Spanish class, good stuff.

I can remember a few of the south american capitals.

In reality I think I can pick up about every 4th or 5th word, so I know roughly what people are saying. But more of that is from working in Texas than taking a few semesters of intro to spanish.

yeah, remember those as well. Our teacher planned a summer trip for students to one of them, to use your learned Spanish. Yeah right, I wasnt going to waste a summer in Bogota or Carracas, no sir.

Spanish. Texas and core values. Seems like the perfect place for this.
