Yes. Flores is not very good. I agreed with the part that Wright is not a very valuable keeper asset. Flores' upside is very limited. He hits HRs, but has below average power. His average fly ball distance is in the bottom 20% of qualified hitters. 16 HRs looks a little flukey to me.
Nobody ever said that wright was a good keep... Just his best #8 keeper...

Was not trying to take a shot at you there Chef.

Oh, I know; and I agree with you. That trade is what made me become a casual follower of my once-beloved Nets.

Not exactly true.

First off, Schwarber is not a catcher, although he is catcher eligible. He won't have as many off days as your normal C. That being said however, Stashing a quality catcher in the bench is not really all that valuable.

The way I see it Red, you want to contend today, but realistically lack the horses to do so. DeGrom and Scwarber are easily you best assets and they are young enough to build around. Starting off with the group that you have now, you are at a tremendous disadvantage to some of your league mates. Rebuilding in a keeper league like this is a multi-year process. If you try to short cut it, you are going to end up being eternally mediocre. In other words, you could deal youth + picks for Vets who will make your team marginally better today, but you will likely finish middle of the pack and cripple your chances for the future. You know, like the Brooklyn Nets did when they traded for Garnett and Pierce.

I say keep all you young upside players like Scwarber, d'arnaud Ventura and Degrom and draft young upside with an eye toward the future. I would be looking 2-3 years down the road in this year's draft because you ain't winning a points league with that keeper core.

Thank you! Yeah I was dealt a shitty shitty team when I took over. I highly doubt I will be able to make a good "dent" positional wise in the standings for a few years. I'll be honest I am in more of a disadvantage in this league as well because everyone (except the guy i took over for) spends hours upon hours looking up stats, predicting who will be the next big thing and they have the time to do that. I can't really do that, so I get a little screwed in that regard.

Yeah one of the guys in the league had his eye on EE, the only problem with that is he doesn't (at least right now) have that many people I'd trade EE for.

Yeah. I would make I known that you are looking to deal him. There may be a team or two out there with 10-12 quality keepers who could deal 3-4 quality young pieces if you can trade pre-draft. If not though, there is no rush. Maybe you hit the lottery in the draft and your team ends up doing better than expected.

true, I have nothing to lose here. If I don't get any offers I like I can always keep him

This may have been said somewhere, but do you have to keep 7?

If you could keep fewer, then I would take 3 (Encarnacion, Scwarber and DeGrom)

You will be able to get significantly better than the rest with extra picks in the re-draft if that is an option.

Just had to league re-instated and we can keep 8 players now. Shouldn't I keep 8?

It's a 14 team league... Snake Draft to which I have (first round) 3rd pick

No. If you don't have to keep 8, and your keepers are your first 8 picks, I don't think most of them are worth a 4th-8th pick.

Edwin. deGrom. Schwarber. -- would be the only ones I consider "worth" it... maybe Dickerson in the 4th, but thattpushing it, imo.

I guess it depends on your rules.

Honestly I am still learning the rules of this league as a buddy of mine got me involved (took over a team) with only a few more games left so I am not so sure how everything works.

I agree with TKO. If your low end keepers aren't any good, you are hurting yourself by taking them. If you get extra picks at the top of the draft, then getting those picks is a must. I would not even entertain keeping anyone beyond the top 3 of you Don't have to. You will be able to draft guys much better than what you would be keeping.

I am still working on which position I will be in since well obvious reason it's too early to start the league.

That is great for you! Keeping your top 3 is the play here, IMO.

Yeah that is what I am now thinking.

EE, DeGrom and Schwarber

12:01 can't get here fast enough!
