well right now you are keeping erasmo Ramirez... you don't need too... I know you want pitching, but pitching is deep... even in a 14 team league where you keep 8... you can get similar pitchers on draft day...

So I would be keeping the 2 catchers, Dickerson, Encarnacion and wright= 5 offense
and Degrom Teheran and Ventura= 3 pitchers...

I am in the minority here but I would probably keep Inciarte (speed/average & youth), over D'Arnaud. I like the 2 two catcher idea but I think you can draft/pick up a second catcher. Calhoun (power), or maybe even Plouffe (CI with power) would be OK over D'Arnaud if you are desperate for power. But in the end I would sub Inciarte for D'Arnaud.

I like Inciarte as well Fuzzy, but the thing is, 8 keepers. There's gotta be some pretty good outfielders floating around out there. The Plouffe idea is interesting, especially with Wright. I love the guy, but you can pretty much bank on him getting hurt at some point and missing a good chunk of the season.

what am I missing?

Flores has been a top prospect for 5 straight years, 6'3", power hitting SS

In a keeper league, over a declining David Wright?

Incarte- 13 HR in 8 minor league seasons already has 10 in 2 MLB seasons when pitchers haven't yet bothered to figure him out. He will definitely get SBs though. And OFers are a dime a dozen.

Honestly, I feel like the biggest mistake owners do in keeper leagues is to look to deep into the future when it affects them this coming season... Do you think a declining david wright will not be a top 14 3B this season?? When he plays he is still easily top 10... don't forget that 3B is not the strongest position.. Inciarte moving to atlanta kills his value... He was already a low BA speed guy, going to a pathetic offense is just going to make him replaceable... I could see flores, but i am just not sold on him yet...

I somewhat agree but Flores already had more homers than wright, last year. Its not really to deep into the future.

Thats fine, but who has a better chance this season to be top 10 at his position?? I would still bet on the declining Wright over flores... Again, with daily lineup changes, injuries don't really hurt as much... Wright still had better numbers when he played last season than flores...

I agree on going with wright for 2016 but you also have to weigh the beyond in a keeper league.

why?? let those choices be made going into 2017... Unless you think Wilmer Flores is going to become an ELITE keeper, then why use up one of your last keeper spots for a weaker player???

Whats the chances he won't have 8 choices next season to keep??

have a point as long as flores doesn't take off in 2016.

He has the size and the swing to potentially be a great keeper for SS, not many come at 6'3" - Ripken, ARod, Jeter

Keepers are a gamble... But of course if you DO think that Flores will take off, then he should be a clear keeper... I just don't see it yet...

damn straight I do!

I was put into this team with very few games left in the season because the guy who was running the team never kept up and the league kicked him out and put me in. SO I want to go from WORST TO FIRST :)

You keep both catchers because of the daily aspect... with it being daily it doesn't matter how many games a player misses, since you can always just swap them out... And having 2 startable catchers will easily get you to the maximum games for the catcher position... AND THAT IS HUGE....

Not exactly true.

First off, Schwarber is not a catcher, although he is catcher eligible. He won't have as many off days as your normal C. That being said however, Stashing a quality catcher in the bench is not really all that valuable.

The way I see it Red, you want to contend today, but realistically lack the horses to do so. DeGrom and Scwarber are easily you best assets and they are young enough to build around. Starting off with the group that you have now, you are at a tremendous disadvantage to some of your league mates. Rebuilding in a keeper league like this is a multi-year process. If you try to short cut it, you are going to end up being eternally mediocre. In other words, you could deal youth + picks for Vets who will make your team marginally better today, but you will likely finish middle of the pack and cripple your chances for the future. You know, like the Brooklyn Nets did when they traded for Garnett and Pierce.

I say keep all you young upside players like Scwarber, d'arnaud Ventura and Degrom and draft young upside with an eye toward the future. I would be looking 2-3 years down the road in this year's draft because you ain't winning a points league with that keeper core.

I would keep a 6'3" shortstop who hit 16 hr at age 23 over wright, or even Corey Dickerson with the Colorado effect getting ready to really take off at age 27.

I agree with this.

This team is not ready to contend, and when it, Wright won't be an asset.

Oh, that hurts. But it's true. Good advice, T.

Was not trying to take a shot at you there Chef.

By the way, encarnacion would be on the trade block for me also. He is nearing the end of his time as an elite contributor. You would be advised to deal him now for some young pieces before he shows signs of decline.

I still go Wright over Flores... I just see Wright being more likely to be a top 10 3B than Flores is to be a top 10 SS... and that would also make Wright much more valuable in a trade...

Yes. Flores is not very good. I agreed with the part that Wright is not a very valuable keeper asset. Flores' upside is very limited. He hits HRs, but has below average power. His average fly ball distance is in the bottom 20% of qualified hitters. 16 HRs looks a little flukey to me.
