Well it's that time of year again where Fantasy Baseball is starting to heat up and it's time to join a league (not pick your players yet since it's way too early for that) but who are this years MUST haves at every position?

Now you can say the big names but also want to know the names of people who think will have break out years or players we have to watch for, even IF they aren't "big names"

This year I want to actually at least get 2nd place in my buddies ESPN league. I took over midway through the season for a member because he got kicked out for not participating and he was in dead last losing all 11 games he played. I was able to win 5 games....

I will have DeGrom that much I know.

My current team (which I can only keep 7): H2h Points League

Stats: Batting - Total Bases (1)
RBI (1)
Ks (-.5) SAC (1) Errors (-1)

Pitching: IP,W,SV,K,BB,WP,HD

C: Travis d'Arnaud
1B: Edwin Encarnacion (K)
2B: Wilmer Flores
3B: David Wright (K)
SS: Elvis Andrus
LF: Corey Dickerson
CF: Ender Inciarte
RF: Kole Calhoun
Util: Kyl Schwarber (K)
Bench:
Trevor Plouffe (thinking MAYBE a keeper)
Devon Travis

Pitching:
DeGrom (K)
Chris Tillman
Martin Perez
Julio Teheran (K)
Yordano Ventura (K)
Justin Wilson
Mark Lowe
Kelvin Herrera
Xavier Cedeno
Erasmo ramirez (K)
Joe Kelly
Manny Banuelos
Chris Young
Henry Owens
Drew Hutchinson
Matt Cain

are you asking who you should keep or some sleepers who may rise??

it will be very confusing to keep all that in one thread!!!

Don't have a lot of time this morning, but I'll say this: DeGrom is a must have!

I'm sure that's not a newsflash to some. ;)

haha no it is not.

I guess what we could do on this thread is "state who you think is a must keep for my team AND players you think we should grab for 2016"

I love degrom too, but don't you think his value is probably at a HIGH right now?? Do you think he can get better?? I kind of think he has reached his maximum(which is a great pitcher), but i just don't think he is a value pick at this point...

yeah it certainly is at a high right now but I mean I need starting pitching to be competitive in this league and I would think in other leagues so why not keep him? I can't trade him now, only get not keep him and know that someone else will pick him back up (I apparently have the 3rd pick in the 1st round)

See this is why it needs to be 2 threads...LOL... I would never advise anyone NOT to keep him...

i am learning that the best way to pick sleepers is not by talent, but by situation and team... Devon Travis last year was great, know why?? because he had the opportunity to play in a hitters ballpark hitting in front of the likes of Josh Donaldson, Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista... But you should be very careful with these situations... and know whether a players situation changes...

This is a very good point. I like Travis a lot, but Goins is proving the merit in your post.

Right, and it is funny, next year if Travis hits behind those guys instead of in front, AND if he struggles they will be talking sophomore slump instead of the truth that he was a medicore talent who was thrown into an amazing situation...

very true. I mean look at Robinson Cano... Seattle wasn't the place for him. He still put up great numbers but not the same if he stayed in New York. But that also is the trouble I run into, I suck at "situational/team' stuff.
