That start against the D-Backs a while ago really killed Kershaw's ERA. Other than that outing, he's looked better than ever. 71/8 K/BB ratio in 55 innings to go along with a high groundball rate (57.0%). Kershaw has a 1.89 FIP, 1.75 xFIP, and 1.88 SIERA.

The Giants have had a rough go of it lately.... this is probably the best time to sell if you are the Dodgers. Becket is performing, League is solid, even Kemp is coming around.... get rid of these hefty, dead weight contracts and inject some hungry youth into this team.

Youth, that's a great idea! The average age of a big-leaguer is 27. So, Kershaw, Jansen, Ryu, Gordon, Puig, and SVS are all average age or younger. That's two SPs, our closer, two starters and our best utility player. They are making a combined $33m.

Then you have what would probably be considered about the prime 28-31 more or less, depending on the player. That would be Greinke, Howell, League, Maholm, Perez, Butera, HanRam, Bills, and Kemp. They make a combined $95m.

I would say that 32 and older would be considered "non youth". I don't see getting rid of people in their prime. Beckett, Haren, Wilson, Wright, Ellis, AGon, Ethier, Crawford, Figgins, Uribe, etc. might be worth discussing. I could see Either, and maybe AGon. But I wouldn't do anything until after the season. This age group makes a total of $103m. I can see wanting to unload them, but I think that players like Uribe, Beckett, and AGon are worth having for deep playoff runs. They have multiple rings, and I think they really help the younger players. LA is one of the older teams, but that is really a misnomer, because the youngest team is only 3 years younger on average. If we get rid of Ethier after the season and get a younger stud, I'd be alright with that. I just don't see money as an issue, the front office doesn't seem to.

I think we have a good collection of youth, prime, and age. We might be a little top heavy, but I'd keep the older guys that are still producing to any extent if they have multiple rings. That experience is great in October.

Congrats to Kershaw on the no-no. Took a bit longer than you'd imagine, but hey, some guys never threw one.

Just complete domination on Kershaw's part tonight.

This team wins in spite of fucking Jansen. Never a clean sheet with this motherfucker, he always has to tight rope.

Beckett loves using that curveball, and can you blame him? Fangraphs rates at as one of the best in MLB this year (5th behind Gray, Kluber, Weaver and Wainwright). The only pitcher that's used a curveball more often is Burnett (31.9%, Beckett's used a curveball 30.8% of the time).

Jansen should be fine. His peripherals are just as good as they were in 2011-13. He has a .417 BABIP allowed. That's ridiculously high and should only drop.

when your worst SP has a 99 ERA+ (NL league average is 101) you have a pretty good rotation.

If Kershaw had enough IP to qualify (he is so close, he'll be there before the ASG), we would have 4 pitched in the top 20 in NL ERA. That's insane.

We are playing great baseball right now. Heard a few days ago that our defense has given up the least amount of errors in the last month. Pitching is strong, and hitting is recovering. We've won 7 of our last 9 (should be 8), and playing some of the best ball in all of baseball right now. Gotta take it to KC and then really show up for STL.
