yeah one of the better arguments that the standards for catcher need to be lower is that he and Mauer come up kinda short on conventional standards for HOFers.

Catching is just harder, it clearly takes more of a toll on the body than any other position, so it's just harder to sustain for as long as other spots.

As a Giants fan, I can’t imagine he doesn’t make it. But when I take off my orange glasses, I have a hard time seeing him even getting close. He has a better case than Baines, but I think Baines is still a BAD outlier.

I honestly would not be surprised if his a 1st ballot HOFer, and I also wouldn’t be surprised if he fell well short after 10 years.

One thing that can't be measured for catchers is handing a staff, though there was that stat about framing pitches but a Great Catcher can make a difference in calling pitches which is hard to measure. By all accounts Posey was Very good at those things.
