Gas Light district is the best thing about Padres' games.

Giants will miss the playoffs this year. Think division goes LA-SD-SF-AZ-COL.

Shields puts them over the top into contender status. They just better hope that OF can stay healthy since 2 of the 3 are injury prone.

Out of context story, much?

Shields did not turn down the Giants offer "to go to the Padres". He turned down the offer because he was a moron, trying to milk the system. The Giants had a spot to fill, so they moved on, taking the offer off the table. Weeks later, the market dried up and Shields was forced to take a lesser offer. He played the game and he "lost".

The Padres are a contender, no question. But to paint it in any other light than the above is :L worthy...
