This is exactly what I expected.
Regular season was a success IMO

10 wins is a good season but the way they got man handled against Michigan killed the buzz for the rest of the season for me
Third straight 10 win season is the kind of consistency that the program has needed to take the next step so its a good thing.
That said the only two teams worth a shit on the schedule except for maybe USC or UVA, beat us and the stink of the Michigan game just wont wash off.
they’re finally burying the teams they’re supposed to, although today’s game was ugly in the first half.
it will never change with kelly at the helm. so get used to this we're really good except for .....
this is like a child's comment.Kelly won 10+ games 5X since he's been here.
Guess you were happy with the mediocre/inconsistency we got often from Weis, Willingham, and Davie
Michigan was definitely the better mudder team.10 wins is a good season but the way they got man handled against Michigan killed the buzz for the rest of the season for me
there will always be people unhappy unless you go 14-0. this is not the 1960's or 70's. notre dame has high academics standards, and is not a southern school situated in football heaven. they have recruiting issues to deal with that most other top ranked football schools don't.
of the course the michigan game is a head scratcher. even though there was torrential rain storm the team seemed completely unprepared, and underachieved badly. had they won that game, they are in the running for #4, albeit highly unlikely they would have been chosen to be part of the phoney 4 team playoff.
a 10 win season is good, and certainly no reason to fire kelly. beating a top ten team in a bowl game would make the season very good. hopefully they get the opportunity.
ND has always has high standards. no excuse imo. and ND didn't win championships year after year after year either so no, i don't expect perfection. i expect them to be elite competitive, that's all ... and they're not.
the michigan game was not a head scratcher either (and it rained for both teams!) (and they DIDN'T win so your fairy-tail win like you suggested is a waste of everyone's time). it never surprises me when they get smashed like that because kelly is not an elite coach. in fact he's downright stupid much of the time and you all KNOW this. many of his calls are "head scratchers" because he's a lousy field coach. he doesn't know how to get his teams prepared for even poor teams much of the time. so many games where they're either losing or barely in front at halftimes vs average teams. his shortcomings list is long.
michigan game is a head scratcher. even though there was torrential rain storm the team seemed completely unprepared, and underachieved badly. had they won that game, they are in the running for #4,aw, the boards biggest crybaby(and that's saying a lot) and kelly hater speaks.
is there another school with a 18% acceptance rate that is ranked higher than notre dame? if you'd like to compare the entrance requirements in the 1970's to today's, please provide some links with evidence.
i suggested a fairy tale like win? what post are you reading?
you don't really know how good they are because there is no real playoff system. they only play who's on the schedule. they beat lsu in a bowl game in 2018, lost only to clemson(who crushed everyone) last year. this year they were competitive with #4 georgia on the road, and went 10-2. they were favored to beat michigan but for whatever reason didn't perform well. if you knew anything about sports you'd know bad weather is an equalizer and can completely change the complexion of a game. whether that was the reason, i don't know, i don't practice with the team. but hanging everything on kelly, and saying the team is failure, because of that loss, is stupid. kelly doesn't even call plays. he has an OC and a DC that do that. and every team has bad days. they happen for a variety of reasons. nd's bad days have been far and few between over the last few years. far less than before kelly showed up. they have 3 10+win seasons in a row, and kelly was selected AP coach of the year last year.
fanboys like you who are so emotionally involved watching other people play football, and bitching on message boards, about a stupid game, make me laugh. maybe you should get out, and live for yourself more.
michigan game is a head scratcher. even though there was torrential rain storm the team seemed completely unprepared, and underachieved badly. had they won that game, they are in the running for #4,
THIS fairy tale where you suggest where they're rated IF they'd won. hey, if they'd also beat georgia they'd be in the playoffs too. in fact, if penn state had won all their games so would they. it's easy to "IF" your way through a discussion. i gave you some hard facts and you have no answers. let me address your non-points: acceptance rate? is it any different than when they were a elite team? no! was lsu of 2017 (not 2018) team the same as this year's lsu? no! they went 9-4. they lost to TROY and mississippi state!
and everybody plays who's on their schedules. over time (ten years in this case, it all works out.
just ignore the 'facts' i gave you and spin the rest. you apologists make me ill. kelly has sucked for ten years and it shows in their records against elite teams which i pointed out and you pretend didn't happen. if there's a fanboy here it's you! enjoy those ten-win seasons if you want ... and ignore those defeats against the really good teams. doesn't take much to please you as a fan .... obviously.
i agree, if if they beat georgia and michigan, they'd be in the playoffs. profound point.
apparently that makes every team to you really good because if they didn't lose the games they lost they'd be in the playoffs. right?
if you believe this is a profound point then you're not worth the effort here.
i got a kick out of one of your comments tho ..." "ever count how many consensus all americans notre dame has had over the last ten years compared to some of the sec teams or ohio state?""
apparently you fail to see the irony here. let me sum it up for you: great players but can't win the big games = poor coaching!
i'll just leave it at this .... in spite of your 'coach of the year' crap and other insignificant bullshit claims ... as soon as ND beats the big teams on at least a 50% rate i will stop "crying and complaining" about their coach. until then, get over it!
you're the one who made the ridiculous statement that if notre dame has beaten georgia and michigan they'd be in the playoffs, i was just agreeing with you(sarcastically).
apparently your reading comprehension is not very good
aside from you ignoring half the post, what is it about this you don't understand?just so you know this is YOUR quote in post 11 of this thread ... not mine: ""michigan game is a head scratcher. even though there was torrential rain storm the team seemed completely unprepared, and underachieved badly. had they won that game, they are in the running for #4, ""
it was YOUR ridiculous statement not mine! apparently your reading comprehension is not very good.
""and you'll complain even when they do beat the elites.""
when all else fails just make shit up.
aside from you ignoring half the post, what is it about this you don't understand?
.....seemed completely unprepared, and underachieved badly.
not making anything up. three 10 win seasons in a row, an unbeaten regular season last year, and you've done nothing but criticize. and i'm sure you were leading the fire kelly bandwagon 3 years ago.
