I'm sure this is the type of parity Adam Silver would have loved to envision for our NBA

Basketball's been like this for a long time. Look at the Bulls teams of the 90's. Best player of that decade was Jordan so they won the titles. It hurts the game as there is no parity but it's the way the game is.

With the exception of '96, they were pushed to the limit just about every year, though.

91 Bulls - 15-2
93 Bulls - 15-4
96 Bulls - 15-3
97 Bulls - 15-4 (no series went to 7 games)

Only 2 tough series they had in the 6 years were against the Knicks in 92, and the Pacers in 98.

No other team made it to 7 games, and only the Jazz I believe made it to 6 in 97/98.

Those 1997 Finals against Utah was honestly the most brutal basketball series I've ever seen in my entire life. As a 9-year-old boy at the time, I could bare to watch it half the time.

I don't think there's anything wrong with teams building themselves up. Obviously Durant was a huge pick-up but it's not like they sucked before and just about every team in the league could have had any of the players that make up that core. They already had Monta Ellis who was playing at a pretty high level when they drafted Curry so it probably wouldn't have taken the farm to extract that pick from them, Klay Thompson had questions about his athleticism when he was drafted, and Green was a flippin second rounder. And these players had to develop as well. It's not like any of them were all stars out of the gate.

I feel like everyone has forgotten how much of a shit organization the Warriors were for DECADES before our run right now. It seems like everyone assumes we've been some dynasty for a long time. GTFO.

I sat through so many damn 20 win seasons it's ridiculous. Draft pick after draft pick being a bust. Then the Warriors got sold to a legit owner, who hired the right people, who drafted the right people and look what happened.

I mean, just look at the damn teams that the Warriors had before Steph. They had one season of We Believe where the Warriors made the playoffs. Then they traded away Jason Richardson for Brandan Wright. Then they blew up the team.

Suns made it to 6 also in the 93 finals when we had Barkley.

People think just bc it was MJ he faced the best competition ever. It's just not true. He never beat the C's and he never played those Lakers teams when they were great and he lost to the Pistons 3 straight times before they declined. The competition is much different but we do know Lebron has already played a team greater than MJ ever beat in the last two Finals...ever played in the Finals.

Keep disrespectin. I fondly remember the former legends like Tom Gugliotta, Larry Hughes, Joe Smith, or the triple-threat of Dunleavy/Murphy/Richardson.

Seriously. The highlight of the org before this run was knocking off the Mavs with Baron Davis. That was literally the high point of the franchise since the Chris Webber debacle. And just about every player on the Warriors right now not named Durant could be on some other team if they really wanted to go after the guy.

The Wizards could have drafted most of the Warriors

Posting this article again to show that not just the Wizards but other teams had a chance to acquire most of the Warriors star players (& until last summer the Wizards appeared to have a chance to acquire Durant). The Warriors obtained these guys due to a combination of good planning, good decision making & pure luck (e.g. drafting Green who obviously no team saw as a huge factor in that draft).

Just about any NBA team has a chance to get to the elite level, but they have to be patient (not easy to do), have a good organization & just get lucky. Look at the Cavs - they were the laughing stock of the NBA for many years & now they are at the very top. Sure - it took a miracle to get LeBron back, but things like this could occur for just about any team given a little time. I can almost guarantee that some team that most believe has absolutely no chance to ever compete will be fighting for a title several years from now.

yah....

i mean- when has the NBA ever had parity?

star power wins- no sport gives the team with the best players more of an advantage.

as long as the NBA has been around the best players have dominated the league.

How many years in the leagues history have more than 3-5 teams have had a legit chance to win a title on Day 1 of the season?

Just look at the times when the league has been at its height in popularity.

Parity isn't needed.

Basketball is the one sport where literally 1 guy can make all of the difference and the best player in the league can drag otherwise terrible rosters to the playoffs. Heck, one role player, playing out of his mind can completely change a playoff series.
