(If true) Eagles In Freefall: Philly Trades Shady to Bills for Kiko Alonso

This almost seems like an article from The Onion. If this is true, the Eagles are in freefall. They've already cut Todd Herremans, Trent Cole, Cary Williams, and, of course, Desean last year. Given all this upheaval, I can't see them trading down. They'll need alll draft picks they can amass to rebuild their defense and to plumb up replacements for Herremans and Jason Peters and Evan Mathis, each of whom is 33 and, as to Mathis, will turn 34 this season.

Update: Rosenhaus says there's no deal. Yet. Kiko Alonso could be a good prospect. But he just came off of ACL surgery.

Oh yeah, one more thing: he's a former Oregon Duck.

Right now, this deal makes very little, if any, sense. McCoy is still young and a dynamic part of the Eagles offense. If he's gone and they don't re-sign Maclin, they'll have lost him, Shady and D-Jax in the span of a year.

The deal can't officially go through until next Tuesday, but I've got no doubt it will. Chip Kelly is either a bat-s*** crazy or a mad genius. Right now, I'm leaning toward the former. He's looking a little bit like Spurrier getting the Gator band back together.

Next step: give us the picks to trade up for Mariota.

Just took a look at the Eagles board and they're pretty happy with this development. Not sure why, but I suppose they may know something I/we don't. Can't see why getting rid of someone like Shady for Alonso, at least as of this time, benefits them.

Yes, that's what the plan apparently is. How successful that will be is another story. Why they didn't try to restructure via a salary-to-cash conversion is beyond me. Shady is a proven commodity. Alonso isn't, other than a proven ACL tear.

The only way a move up for Mariota AND moving Shady makes sense is if Kelly thinks Shady has been to much the focus of the offense and is trying to prove its his system and not the players (Shady, DJax, Maclin) that make Philly what it is.

Kelly is an egomaniac. He's dumping shady because he was vocal in support of deshan when he got traded. He's trying to prove he can put anyone in his system and score. He's going to kill that franchise and will be gone in a year or two.
