Big difference between Michael and Kobe is finals are in on the east coast when people are getting to sleep. West games are just starting. Lots less exposure if he goes to the west might hurt shoe sales.

If they lose Carmelo and Lebron...it would be funny and sad at the same time.

I believe Lebron will stay in Miami, that being said I think the East will be better and could see four 50+ win teams, but it will be still be a cakewalk compared to the West in terms of total depth.

West was strong 1-9, with one huge surprise team that no one expected to contend at all.

The West has depth in the playoff spots, but the bottom of the West is just as bad as the bottom of the East.

I disagree. Minnesota & Denver are both competitive teams that probably would've made the playoffs in the East. Then you got the Kings & Pelicans who are both talented, but young. Considering our 15 seed had 25 wins and the East had four teams with 25 or less wins... the numbers disagree as well, sir.

The weak teams in the West are better then some playoff teams in the East.

I hear you. Perhaps I'm overstating my thoughts a bit. I just think the difference between the bottom of the West and the bottom of the East is much larger in perception than it is in reality.

Using NBA RPI rankings...
Top 9 teams = 8 West, 1 East
Middle 7 teams = 1 West, 6 East
Bottom 14 teams = 6 West, 8 East

In other words....
Top = All West
Middle = All East
Bottom = Mix of both

I think the middle is a product of the schedule that say... Minnesota has to play compared to teams like Atlanta and Charlotte. Only so many teams can come out with winning records in such a tough conference, where in the East, someone's gotta win head to head, right? lol

Yeah, a fair point and one that shouldn't go without mention. I will say that the difference in SOS isn't as drastic as you'd think. Over 1/3 of the season is still played against the other conference... and, again, the West still has their share of bottom feeders. The entire Western conference had a SOS slightly above .500, while the entire Eastern conference had a SOS slightly below .500.

At any rate... there's no doubt there was a huge imbalance in conference power this season.

There is a very slim chance he goes to the West. I would be shocked

Quit riding the coattails of the Lakers and Spurs.
This is almost as bad as conference homerism in the SEC with college football.

The WEST did not win anything.
SA won the title...not the western conference.

If anything, the West has been a two team league for nearly a whole generation.
SA and LA won the title 10 of the last 15 times.
They represented the west 12 of the 15 times.
They put a team in the western finals 13 of the last 15 times.

East would be pointless if both left. What stars or superstars would be left in the East? MVP Rose who needs to prove himself again, Rondo who is coming off an injury, Noah who isn't a star because of scoring, Holford coming off an injury.

East is weak. Only chance the East has a shot to win if both left is if the West just beats each other up in the playoffs.

You chose a weird way to breakdown the RPI rankings

Top 10 = 8 West / 2 East with the west occupying the the top 7 spots
Middle 10 = 4 West / 4 East split evenly
Bottom 10 = 3 West / 7 East with the East occupying the bottom 5 spots

That paints a completely different picture that what you were trying put forth. The difference between the bottom of each conference is that bottom west teams have to play far better teams & play them more often. Outside Of LAL & Utah, I think if you switched out any west team that didn't make the playoffs, with a bottom East team, that team would likely make the playoffs.
