You must be remembering a different Packers team than me then. In 2005 when they drafted Aaron Rodgers they went 4-12 than year. Offensively they were a bottom half of the league offense. They finished 22nd in points per game and I think like 18th in total offensive yards. Brett Favre also had one of his worst years ever as a starter.
Tough to say why they were so bad that year, being a decade removed from it. Like you said, Favre had a horrible year, especially in the turnover department. It's possible that Rodgers could have won with that team if he was more efficient.
