I'll speak out, Tommy being Tommy again and some questionable play calling at times, and the defense looked completely lost. Three guys making their second career starts shouldn't do that well against Nix, Tuitt and who ever else plays the line with them.

I'm not taking my hat off to them at all, I really can't stand Brady Hoke.

Defense lost the game for us. Outside of the opening two 3 and outs and the Tommy INT before half they looked really good but they should be more balanced.

OU, Mich State, and USC doesn't look good at all. Michigan is the probably the best team on our schedule (based on the first 2 weeks) until we play Stanford

He threw 2 INT the second one was unlucky but he shouldn't have made the throw. I had hoped that after starting his first two years and being a senior he would play smarter like he does when he reads the defense pre-snap. His future is in coaching I think.

How many INTs does Golson throw if he put the ball in the air 51 times?

This game is all about the defense in my opinion. I didn't think the loss of 3 players would be such a deference, well I guess it does. Rees played ok, not like a senior should, but I don't think he lost the game for them. At least a few teams around the Irish lost as well.

These are my thoughts exactly

Golson wouldn't put the ball in the air 51 times, and I've said the defense played a big part in the loss, but so did Rees, it's not just the turnovers it's timing of those turnovers that completely stops momentum for Notre Dame. As well as the poor defensive plays (the two pass interference calls were huge, the first was bogus but the second one was a good call).

What momentum do we possibly have down 11 with 130 to go in the 4th? Our defense was playing like shit. Our only chance of winning at the point (even though we had all our timeouts) was if we recovered an onside kick because it was obvious that the D could not hold them.

BTW I agree that the first INT killed momentum

The first killed momentum at the half and really put Notre Dame in a hole with Michigan getting the ball. Tommy threw the pick early in the down and distance and should have thrown it in the stands rather than rush a throw due to Michigan pressure to a well covered receiver with a low pass that got deflected in the air and anything can happen.

My biggest problem right now is Diaco! How can you not shadow this guy! When he got out of the pocket, he either passed for a 1st or ran it for one....We got plenty of pressure, but he ran on us at will. Put Smith on him and tell him to not let him leave you site...he did not adjust at all for Gardner.

because without a TD with a 1:30 left in the game you have no chance so why force a throw when you have more downs to get a better look.

Diaco dropped the ball and didn't put these guys in a position to be successful.

So yeah the second INT was a game killer.

I don't think you will find anyone here who disagree with you on the 1st Int. It was crucial.

Instead of it possibly being 20-16 or tied at 20 going into the half, we were down by 2 Tds

Tommy's second INT was a fluke one, my point is he shouldn't have thrown the ball to a well covered WR when he was pressured, just get rid of the ball and live to fight another down.
