I've been playing in the same fantasy baseball league since 2000, and really haven't paid much attention to it the past 6-8 years. I watch the Tigers occasionally, and really don't care too much for baseball outside of that. I really only play because a few of my friends are die hard MLB fans, and I like the interaction with them during the season. I've come in last or near the bottom nearly every year for the past decade.
Well, I happened to win my league this year, and yahoo has a free post season tournament for those who won their league. So I have a chance to win $40k. I really have no clue on whom to draft for the playoffs. It is a salary cap league, and they take the top 50% of fantasy managers after each series. So, any suggestions? I have $200 to spend for 10 players (2 pitchers, 3 OF, and 1 player from all other positions). You can average $20 per player, but for some reason the very cheapest pitchers cost $25, with the Kershaw costing $60 (Max and Bum are $58).
Any cheap sleepers you would suggest? I'd like to get a top end pitcher, but if my second pitcher costs me at least $25, my pitchers would likely end up costing me between $70-$90 of my $200 salary cap. To do that I would need to find at least 3 position players that are $10 or cheaper. It may not be worth getting a top end pitcher (one that costs between $45-$60), but even 2 middle of the pack pitchers are likely to cost me $60+.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
