Why not do rounds 1-3 the first day, 3-6 the second day and then finish it all off the 3rd day.... I just don't get the logic of setting everything up, getting the place filled with people and just doing 1 round the first day... I liked the draft way better prior to 2010 when we got to sit down and enjoy it all day... But hey, if they're hell bent on making it 3 day's at least split it up better....

I can guarantee the teams love the new set up though. Gives them a chance to really reset their draft boards a couple of times and get on the phone to find out what it would take to get the players they want. Leads to a lot more trades throughout the 3 days

Because they can get headline news today through the weekend.

The draft is pretty much a two day affair for the Hawks anyway

They do it for ratings, they want people to watch all 3 days and chances are if they put rounds 6-7 or just 7 by itself on the last only the most diehard people would watch. The way they do it now is the best for keeping people interested all 3 days.

Worst feeling in the World when your team is drafting late...

Watch draft for 3 hours. And *insert team* has traded the 31st overall for the 42nd overall (and whatever). GOD DAMMIT!!!! Makes day 2 slightly more exciting I guess.

I wonder if BB could work a backroom deal? Like SD when they drafted Eli? NE has a team draft a certain player in the 1st. Then NE sends the draft picks and or players to that team after the fact:shrug:

I wonder if that's legal?

I disagree.

Only round 1 has any shot at getting prime time numbers and broad general interest.

Only hard core fans watch rounds 2 through 7 anyway.

It's the Hunger-Games, The Hobbit rule. Why give people what they want when you can break it up into little snippets and essentially let people 3 times to watch instead of twice?

Pretty soon, they're going to have the first half of games on Wednesday night and finish the games on Sunday.

Sometimes you can't look at something as anything other than a money grab. Like the NFL doesn't make enough money. I have plenty of shit on DVR that I want to spend my Thursday (GD THURSDAY TO BOOT!) night watching beside the draft and I probably will watch those other things rather than the draft. It's just nonsense. This is not a primetime event IMO. Also, I loved getting up Saturday morning and gearing up to watch the draft for 2 days pretty much nonstop. Now I'll watch very little of the first, maybe none of the second and third because I have a softball game and since I've now missed all the good stuff maybe none of the 4th-7th. I think they've just screwed this all up simply because there are more dollars to be made at night. It's a shame!

If your taking the time to even watch the draft you would think most would have more interest than just the 1st round... Even if they at least did rounds 1-2 the first day most would stay tuned in...

I don't disagree but I don't like the Hobbit reference. 2-3 hours is rarely enough to tell the entire story of a novel. 8 or 9 hours is. It's why Game of Thrones is so good. 10 hours per book essentially is enough to tell the story. Just my opinion of course. We should have gotten 3 times as much Lord of the Rings too.

They have to temper that with the ability to sell advertising during prime time.

I'll take your word for it. I didn't even like the book, so I didn't bother watching the movie.

I'm sure it was well done.
