That sick goal in the 85th minute tonight probably earned them a WC bid. If they would have draw with Panama both teams would have 9 points and a GD of -2.

However Panama is home to the US while Mexico on the road to Costa Rica.

Any chance that we lay down and allow Panama to win by 4 goals or something lol

Doubtful. The remainder of the qualifiers are a tryout for younger players looking to make the Brazil team.

I think Mexico with that win pretty much gets them to Brazil. They might finish 4th but then all they'd have to do is beat the Kiwis.

But on to the topic that was a very pretty goal.

I don't usually watch soccer and didn't watch the game. I have a Mexican friend who showed me the goal. I have to say, that was an awesome goal at just the right time. He was crying afterwards, that made it even better.

Huuuuuuuge win for Mexico.

The goal was unbelievable. I've never seen anything like that with so much on the line.

But a draw would've been much more devastating for Mexico than the loss was for Panama. Panama beating the US at home is not a long shot based on how the US played against Jamaica and how they played on the road against Honduras and Costa Rica. And Costa Rica could easily beat Mexico at home. If that happens Panama is back up on goal differential and Mexico is out.

Both games played at the same time Tuesday, plus Honduras needs at least a draw in Jamaica for a guaranteed spot, unless Mexico draws or ties. Should be fun to watch as a US fan. As a Mexico or Panama fan it will be gut wrenching.
