Season series: San Jose Sharks goalie Troy Grosenick made 45 saves in his NHL debut, a 2-0 win against the Carolina Hurricanes on Nov. 16.

Hurricanes team scope: Carolina ends a four-game road trip looking for a second win after defeating the Arizona Coyotes 2-1 in a shootout on Thursday. "It's going to be another good test for us. [The Sharks are] a good hockey team," coach Bill Peters told the Hurricanes website. "We've got a chance to finish on a high note, for sure." Defenseman Ryan Murphy was injured in the first period Thursday, and defenseman John-Michael Liles wound up playing a season-high 25:50. Liles has an assist in back-to-back games. The Hurricanes are 8-3-3 in 2015 but have moved up only one position in the NHL standings, from 29th to 28th. Carolina will be off until Thursday, when it hosts the Anaheim Ducks.

Sharks team scope: San Jose used six rookies in a 5-1 win at the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday; forward Chris Tierney scored his first NHL goal in his 16th game, and forward Daniil Tarasov got his first NHL point in his debut. "[The rookies] had an impact on the game," coach Todd McLellan said afterward, according to CSN Bay Area. "We looked for them to provide energy and some enthusiasm, and they did that as well." The Sharks play seven of 10 games at home before the end of the month; they are 14-8-4 at SAP Center.

Sharks came out looking bad and gave up a 0-2 deficit because Niemi is weak but at 11:34 in the 2nd, the Sharks scored. 2-1 Canes.

Just as I finished typing, Niemi lets in another. It was a power play goal but special teams looked bad.
You can't let an open man just camp out down low because they do things like screen the goalie and score goals.

3-1 Canes.

Side note: Jamie Baker isn't a very good commentator. Can we trade him for a defenseman?

P.S.: Come back Drew! You weren't always right but you were always honest and that made you real.

3-3 in the third! Goals from Hertl and Couture.

...and in the blink of an eye Canes score off a bad change from the Sharks. Niemi gave up a juicy rebound from the 1st shot and they buried it.

4-3 Canes.

Well ok then... Canes score on an empty net to make it 5-3 but Marleau makes it 5-4.

Sharks ice it on a 6-5 empty net play which was dumb.
Lost the face off in their own end and Carolina runs out the clock.

So there's your game:
A lackluster game with fleeting moments of hope from a squad whose veterans couldn't seem less interested. Goaltending from Niemi was shaky at best.

Hertl and Couture had good games. They're the future of this franchise or at the very least, they try.

This team is garbage:

1 loss and 1 SO loss to Edmonton
1 loss to Carolina (at home??????)
2 losses to Buffalo (wtf is that????)
2 losses to Florida (wtf is that again????)
1 loss to New Jersey (at home????????)

Of course they have no problem beating the Ducks though. Still no leadership on this team. A rudderless ship that can either be the best or worst team in the league on any given night. That won't get them far in the playoffs if they even make it.

P.S. Watching and even listening to paint dry you will get more entertainment than listening to Jamie Baker. He is really an apologist when the Sharks suck.
