Where did I make the claim about there not being any black players on Alanama's football team before that game? Oh that's right, I never did.
It happened more frequently than people realize in the BCS era, esp. when the Big East champ was considered an auto bid. Conference champs had 3 or more losses and we’re outside the top 8 and got auto bids.Wisconsin
There may have been one more recently like Stanford a couple years ago but Wisconsin I know off the top of my head.
It happened later in the BCS era too. The AQ conf champ was either outside the top 8 or had at least 3 losses:It actually happened quite often in the early 2000's:
2000 Purdue, 2001 LSU, 2002 Florida State, 2003 Florida State, 2004 Virginia Tech, 2004 Michigan, 2005 Florida State, 2006 Wake Forest.
And in some instances some of those teams weren't in the top 10. I get that was in a different era, but those teams don't need to be playing in a CFP consisting of 8 teams.
I agree...just never see it happening.Strongly agree that when the loss happens should be 100% irrelevant
IIRC, it COULD be explained but WOULDN'T be explained...supposedly for proprietary reasons involving the metrics that were used in the formula.LOL @ the pseudo BCS formula that not even the BCS would or could explain. The BCS was a bad fvking joke.
That'll be the only way we get a vote. We'll get a legitimate vote whenfan vote is about the worse possible thing ever.
Guess who I'm voting #1 for every fucking time? You guess it - ALABAMA. 0-13? Don't fucking care, #1 bitches! Guess who's going to be #2? Good news @Deep Creek, it's UTEP. #2 team in the country and everyone fucking knows it!
Oh, and I'm voting from everything I can get my hands on too. My cousin eddie doesn't give a fuck about college football, but guess what, Alabama #1 and UTEP #2 all day!
Not even joking, and I wouldn't even be the extreme or close to it.
I agree...just never see it happening.
Gotta throw in a little Ohio State dropping an occasional deuce into the contest.Don’t worry, it’s 5 pages of a USC v Bama pissing contest.
I don't think it would be that hard either.it's really not that hard not to though.
the resume is the resume. you won, you lost, that's about it.
take emotion and reactionary nonsense out of it.
the resume is the resume.
i've always been curious how BCS stuff would've ended up had they taken the human element out of them.
I'd have to think about that, but on the surface I'd rather have that than what we have now in Texas...even though we have 6 classifications and 2 divisions in each classification. We crown 12 state champions each year.I like the WV high school ranking system for CFB.
WV only has 3 classes or divisions if you will AAA,AA, and A,
I use these as P5 (AAA), G5(AA) BYU is a G5 in mine, and FCS(A).
Wins over AAA(P5) = 12 points
Wins over AA(G5) = 9 points
Wins over A(FCS) = 6 points
You get a bonus point for every win your defeated opponent gets over a AAA(P5) opponent.
______ (however many teams ya like) teams with the most points meet in the playoff
I don't think it would be that hard either.
The poll was the the human element I had the most problem with. Mainly because of the "emotion and reactionary" items you reference. The other human elements I had a problem with in polls (and still do) is the perception and herd mentality dynamic at work. While it may exist to a certain extent with the CFP since they are still human after all, the smaller group is much more credible IMHO.
This is selecting 4 teams. Adding more is not an option. What would be the best way in selecting 4 teams?
Is the current system the best at the moment?
One way that has been throwing around is having the BCS system determine Top 4.
Having different committees (one committee be writers, another be ADs, another be NFL scouts, etc) do as poll, put the rankings together to make an official rankings.
Do an online poll. Let the fan base that trolls the best decide. $$$ and ratings mean a lot.

So the REAL top 10 using this system...
1. Notre Dame 14.4
2. Clemson 13.5
3. Alabama 13.4
4. Michigan 12.7
5. Ohio State 12.4
6. Georgia 12.3
7. WVU 12.2 (would be 12.5 had we played and beaten NCState, not a given but..)
8. Washington State 11.7
9. OU 10.7
10. LSU 10.5
