As I recall, there was a lot of hemming and hawing about the Desmond situation too. Let's trust our guys and see what happens. It doesn't cost anything to find out.

I wonder if it might be a situation that doesn't fit in either of those categories. Like maybe he doesn't prove to be an upgrade at all and yet he is still starting 3 or 4 weeks from now.

To me this isn't at all like a Prince Fielder situation. Four weeks of futility seems like a pretty big window to me.

A lot may depend on his clubhouse demeanor too.

And as I posted yesterday, I believe it's costing us less than $3K per game to see what's in his tank, and in today's world of baseball salaries, that's chump-change.

Two weeks in AAA isn't two long to see how he progresses. All for him if he does well.

Believe I read that he'll be up with the team around Thursday-ish..... and then he'll be the starting LF for the foreseeable future.

To me it's precisely why it is important. He costs damn near nothing to find out what he's got, or doesn't. There's no downside.

I've so given up on DDJ. Sorry....but I just have. At least with Stubbs you know not to expect much.

Delino is at best an avg OF, regardless if it's CF or LF, and his arm is completely inadequate. Add this to his lack of BA, OBP, etc. and he's pretty much a 4th/5th OF at best.

Don't forget this too.....Gomez can play CF.
