Game Thread: History on the line - CBJ @ WSH, the quest for 17 (and to make Pens fans shut up)

History game tonight, boys. Jackets have been playing hard, loose and fun hockey and have a chance to tie the all time record for consecutive wins in NHL history.

Caps, wanting to maintain position in the best division in hockey, look to spoil it and please legions of Pens fans, who will remind you at every chance that the record was set without the benefit of the shootout to settle games while conveniently forgetting that they got a two month break in the middle of their streak and did it when teams could just buy any players they wanted without a salary cap. But whatever.

Should be a good 'un, and I think we can all agree that the best thing for hockey, humanity and world peace is for the Jackets to win.

Bitter sweet as of course I want the caps to win but shutting up Pens fans is always a good thing as well.

I got on the Metro tonight to head down towards Verizon Center. Lots of people on with Caps' jerseys and a few Blue Jackets' shirts and hats.

Got off the subway just a couple blocks from the hockey game...
