USC has 7 retired numbers. Heisman winners it's a tradition of success.

Different strokes en sech. I don't care if other teams want to, just wouldn't be a big fan of Bama doing it.

If bama followed that formula what would they have Mark Ingram :noidea:

Yup. Maybe y'all should retire all the numbers of the Heisman's teammates too, it's not like they won them all on their own.

Team sport. The trophy is a total joke to me. It's all about hype and nothing else.

Really never thought about it. Bama never has (that I'm aware of).

Not even Joe's?

These are all of OSU's:

#45 Archie Griffin (10/30/99)
#31 Vic Janowicz (9/23/00)
#40 Howard “Hopalong” Cassady (11/18/00)
#22 Leslie “Les” Horvath (10/6/01)
#27 Eddie George (11/10/01)
#47 “Chic” Harley (10/30/04)
WH Woody Hayes (9/10/05)
#99 Bill Willis (11/03/07)

Troy Smith's number 10 will not be retired. He is the only OSU Heisman winner to not have his number retired.

Joe was #12 and was used as recently as Greg McElroy in 2009/2010.

I'm surprised other teams retire them. I didn't think they really did that in college football.

I was just looking that info up on mgoblue.com. As far as Woodson goes I think he'll get his # retired but it'll happen sometime after his HOF career is over.

Didn't Garner wear #98? And he sort of soiled that jersey.
