My keyboard is about to get with all of the news coming in from the Buckeyes. Dwayne Haskins has just declared for the NFL. No surprise, go get paid Simba. Much love from Buckeye Nation.

Fun fact, Mattison left us last time in 1996 for Notre Dame. He's now left us twice, both times for rival teams. Also fun fact, the year after Mattison left we won a national title, mostly because of our defense.

You will not win the national title next year.

I am very pleased with both hires
I am also pleased Greg is gone, and I do thank him for his time in Columbus. I think he was ready to move on too.

Now breaking that 49ers DB Coach Jeff Hafley will be joining the staff as co-DC.

I heard Hafley is an ace recruiter as well, so him combined with a possible Washington hire will continue this elite recruiting

Seems like a good DB coach. Hopefully between him and Mattison, they can improve this defense

Can't been any worse

Hopefully a more "fundamentals" approach rather than going for flash. The raw talent is definitely there on the roster, just need to get the basic stuff down (like wrapping up tackling, proper gap control & proper pursuit angles, all sorely lacking this past season)

Not sure I like this one from a DC standpoint. Mattison is a great coach, but hiring a guy just south of 70 years old seems a bit odd for a young HC.

What becomes of Schiano?

Why do I get a bad feeling he ends up in Athens?

The players call Glenn Schumann the guru, and he's the best recruiter on staff, Kirby, sometime's it's ok to promote from within.

I've heard he's received some assurances he's going to the NFL.

Good. I'd have a lot of egg on my face if he ended up in Athens after I backed Clay Travis when he was hired for the Tennessee job last year.
