Just got back from the game. Really felt like we pissed it away. However Texas is a good, resilient team. This loss hurts a lot. Terrible ass secondary we have.

Really hurts the Texas contingent that wants Mack gone, if he wins the Big 12 they will have a really hard decision to make on that one.

Yeah, one of my friends still lives in Motown so I usually go to a few games a year if we don't get season tickets. Heck of a game. Just wish it would have ended differently. Met some Texas fans, very classy nice people.

Incredible game to watch. We knew a night game @ WVU would not be easy.

But that was a defensive battle in first half - followed by back and forth offensive scores in the second - followed by overtime to the last play. Wow.

FIRST HALF

It was the most epic defensive struggle I have seen in a long while

The Texas defense had 7 sacks, 11 consecutive plays for 1 yard or negative yards, and 4 forced turnovers

yet they could not break more than 13 points even with 3 drives starting inside the WVU 20.

Both teams averaged less than 2 yards a play in the first half.

SECOND HALF

Suddenly it was Arena Football

Neither team could even remotely slow down the other team

Texas went from 13 pts at half to barely winning with 47 points.

Both teams averaged nearly 11 yards a play in the second half.

It was the strangest game ever. Never has one half looked so different from the other.

Overall, I still our defense as being horrible. Giving up over 450 yards is just ridiculous. WV is just not that good this year. Unless something changes, Baylor is going to almost impossible to stop. Ok St. is going to be tough as well.

I'm not quite so quick to criticize last night. Night games in Morgantown are tough. This is the same WVU team that made Okie State look silly.

Also, we held them to under 400 total yards (not 450); We held them to 2.3 yards per carry; We had 7 sacks; We had 5 turnovers.

Our problem was we kept kicking field goals instead of touchdowns, and (outside of Fera) our special team were awful. Good tough win though.

That was schematic. Texas is asking people to cover on an island. It does not take much to take advantage of that. Luckily, the Big 12 was some bad offenses this yr. QB play is way down, so it has been quite successful. I am really anxious to what defensive adjustments Texas makes. We will need to at least sprinkle in zone coverages to get through the next 3 games.

The defense was not that bad last night overall.

It was a tale of two halves, but the defense was overall okay.

Lots of good things (7 sacks, 18 negative plays, 4 forced turnovers)

Lots of bad things (seemingly lost every 1-on-1 jump ball pass to WVU receivers)

Special teams did not help as every time it seemed WVU started at the Texas 50 after a big return.

It was the worst defensive game in nearly 2 months.....but it WAS NOT a disastrous defense.

It was tough to grade the defense in such a strange game.

Still your D is much better then ours. We prolly have the worst secondary in the nation. When Applewhite realized he could throw the ball down the damn field, that's when the game changed. Our DBs are hideous. We pissed one away it felt like. But I give UT credit, they never gave up. You are a good team.

That is correct, but should be expected given the high risk defense that has become our base defense
