Mad Bum vs Zack Eflin in the first game. In Eflin's nine starts since he arrived in June, he's thrown all quality starts, 7, except for his first start when he got blown out in two innings, giving up 8 runs, and in his last start, giving up 7 ER in 5 innings.

Here we are post deadline with another dull lineup. It's likely that there will be no more than one or two hits from Altherr, Parades, Goeddel, Galvis, and Eflin, tonight . It's up to four guys in the lineup. Nice. Get on the freakin phone, Klentak!

How do you guys feel about Eflin in this small sample size?

He's pretty solid for a 22 year old. Maybe not a top of the rotation guy but the Phillies don't need a bunch of aces. Once they get all their offensive weapons up to the big leagues they just need good pitching, not great.

Yeah, I love his low walk rate, but I'm not a big fan. I'm huge on K% and GB%, and I think at a place like CBP, they are even more important. His K% of 11.8% is awful, and his ground ball percentage of 36.4% is laughable. Now those rates have yet to stabilize with his innings count, but I still don't like it. His K% was higher in the minors though (they don't track GB% in the minors)

Bumgarner and Fernandez are my two favorite pitchers to watch

Yeah, that's why I think he's more of a bottom of the rotation guy. Remember when the Phillies had an offense they won more than 50% of Kyle Kendricks starts.

Mad Bum will be splitting time with Justin Smoak as a DH/1B by the middle of next year

Good thing we didn't trade for him. Klentak must have had secret access to some new statistic, call it zFIP
