Was it intentional? I know Fiers tends to be......unstable.

I feel for Stanton man. he is an incredible player and by all appearances a really good dude.

This is revenge cause I cut him from my sim league team right after he won game 7 of the World Series for me last year (Stanton is my cleanup hitter). I know it.

I don't see how there was any intention in hitting Stanton or Johnson, but I can understand the Marlins being pissed off.

Prayers.

Not intentional, but enjoyed watching the Marlins let Fiers know he sucked balls tonight. Guy looked like he was going to cry.

I've always thought that in these types of situations it's the guy on the other team who gets intentionally plunked that has the right to be angry.

Holy crap, how awful.

Was watching the game and when he went down, the camera zoomed in on him and blood was just gushing out. Thank GOD the network didn't continually run the replay ala Joe Theisman injury.

Thoughts and prayers out to him and his family for a speedy recovery.

This really fucking sucks!
Stanton is one of the bright young lights in the game and even opposing fans want to watch the guy hit. Fiers seemed genuinely upset, and the pitches that hit Stanton and Johnson had really insane inside movement for fastballs (and, bizarrely enough, both were called strikes).
Hope like hell for Stanton's sake and the good of the game that we're not looking at the next Tony Conigliaro disaster. I was hoping to watch a HOF career develop, so I have my selfish reasons for wanting to see him come back strong.

For the Marlins coach to think Fiers was throwing at Stanton was simply retarded. I watched the game and the ball simply rode in on him and got away, same thing happened next pitch. It happens. I pitched a lot and had great control but on rare occasion a ball would tail off more than you'd expect and ride into the right handed hitter. You could plainly see that Fiers was shook up after hitting him as anyone would expect. I watched the interview after the game and simply think the Marlins manager got it wrong. It's was a sad thing and hope Stanton recovers fully, just a dirty shame. Wish him a speedy recovery.

Yeah, looked to me like Fiers just lost control of the tail on his fastball. It's a bit telling to me that Stanton started his hands forward. Unfortunately, it was starting the swing which ended up preventing him from getting out of the way.

Fiers is a good young pitcher but that pitch got away from him. It was just an unfortunate situation.

As much as I dislike the Brewers, I have to say for MLB to fine Fiers today was BS. Where did he incite a ruckus on the field? McGehee was the one that charged the field, Fiers had two inside pitchs go a bit too far inside. It sucks for all baseball fans, but it was not fine worthy.

Forty Six,
I've always thought you've been a very reasonable mod and poster. I have to ask about the Fiers tends to be unstable remark. I've watched him pitch for the Brewers for a couple of seasons and that would be the last thing I would call him. He has very good control and has been as cool as a cucumber. I think the fact that he accidently had a ball get away and hit an opponent in the face shook him up, who wouldn't be shaken up with that? Fiers has always seemed to me to be a super decent caring thoughtful person. You could see it on his face that he was shaken, he was interviewed after the game and could see he was choked up. He is he unstable? Just curious how you think that.:noidea:

I've always thought that he controlled his emotions very well and had very good command of the strike zone. I most certainly think he had a couple pitches unfortunately simply get away from him. It happens.
