jesus. Looks freakin awesome so far. Wesley and Jones will prove to be I think the biggest pickups next year. Or wait wasn't Jones the transfer...not sure if he has to wait a year.

Jarvis Jones technically counts for the 2009 recruiting class, and yeah he will sit out a year. Not because he has to, but because he wants to use his redshirt. Probably to finish rehabilitating.

The first post of this thread will be continuously updated as recruits commit.

UGA currently has 15 commits, not including Jarvis Jones (transfer from USC).

Looks about right to me. I really wonder if Lemay will start his first year if Murray has a Joe Cox like season...but that will never happen. I think Lemay gets redshirted

Chris Mayes (4 star) is Georgia's 16th commit. So far, he's the only DT in the class, and he is one of UGA's "dream team" members.

Apparently, he has tremendous upside, and I'm glad to see some D-lineman coming on board to help build Coach Grantham's new 3-4.

He picked UGA over Miami, Louisville & a few others.

Lots of recruits at the UGA game Saturday, nice that they got to see the opener. It's always extra crunk, even if the opponent is sub-par.

I also liked the way UF looked, if they can keep looking confused, it will really help Georgia's recruiting.

Georgia's recruiting has really dropped off the last month. There are a lot of major recruits coming to Athens Saturday for the Arkansas game. A win would go along way with pulling these guys in.

UGA usually starts slow and finishes strong, this year they started fast and have slowed recently. Let's hope for some big wins and a strong finish in recruiting.

Ray Drew is a beast. He is supposedly a Georgia lean, but his recruitment is somewhat of a mystery. Neither he or his coach have said much.

Ray Drew 5 star - DE

I would say this is bad for you since you guys have to go against Alabama but you have an edge since hes from Georgia. But id agree he seems like he would be a beast.

Georgia goes against Alabama & Florida for every major recruit. Alabama isn't nearly as bad as Tennessee, but they don't have a lot of in-state talent. Florida has as much or more than Georgia, but everybody raids Florida.

Every kid is different, but a lot depends on the schools distance from their home, how many players the school has at their position, how good those guys are, etc., etc.. As far as that goes Georgia is in desperate need for DL & LBs, since switching to the 3-4. Ray Drew is perfect for the 3-4 and not a lot of schools run a base 3-4 defense, but unfortunately Alabama does too.

We'll see, Saban raided a lot of players from Atlanta last year, but UGA doesn't usually do well in Atlanta, so they were kids Georgia probably wouldn't have gotten anyway.

Apparently Drew was a LSU fan when he was younger, and he just planned an official visit there. So, right now LSU has me worried more than Alabama. Bt Georgia has one up him, Drew is an ordained minister and there's no bigger "good guy, christian" than Mark Richt.

Georgia's main fight with Alabama will be over Isaiah Crowell from Columbus, Ga. He & his team will be featured on ESPN2 tonight at 7.

Witchett will reportedly be back on his HS team next, sounds like it was just a minor argument with an assistant coach.

Georgia supposedly lost a couple of recruiting battles during the Under Armor All American game, a HB to Auburn & a DE to Alabama, but they were really 2nd choices behind DE Ray Drew & HB Isaiah Crowell, neither of the two will be declaring until "National Signing Day".

Tomorrow, however, at the U.S. Army All American game Georgia is expecting to get atleast one recruit.

Damian Swann is scheduled to announce at the game, and UGA has been hard on him for a while, I'm predicting he picks Georgia.

Georgia hopes for good news from Damian Swann at U.S. Army Game | AJC College Sports Recruiting

The recruiting class is already pretty good (around #8 on most lists), but with the addittion of Ray Drew, Isaiah Crowell & Jonathan Jenkins, UGA will have gotten everything they need.

Still hopeful of Jay Rome, he'd be a nice bonus. Plus, Orson Charles might go pro after next year, so a big time TE would be in need.
