This is exciting, but how many of the writers are? I remember them mentioning they did not have John DiMaggio come back, in which case I have little interest as well.

I will remain cautiously optimistic.

Just read up on it, John Dimaggio signed on just a few weeks before recording started. That is fantastic!

I haven’t watched the latest stuff yet. Tbh. I am not sure when/if I actually will watch it. The last season(s?) of the show were ROUGH. They were doing it purely for the paycheck, and that left a bad taste in my mouth.

I will need some good reviews to pull me in.

Personally, I only think there are about five bad episodes so my opinion is going to be really biased. I've probably watched every episode and movie 5-10 times.

FWIW, they're doing a weekly release so you can wait awhile.

I thought the first episode was fine. Nothing great but a generally decent Futurama episode.

I'd say if you've seen enough Futurama then you should just wait to catch the best episodes. This isnt Disenchantment or Justified. I'd imagine each episode is self-contained.

I do think the first episode is one of the more 'meta' episodes of Futurama. Its funny but in a way that gives them an excuse to recycle jokes.

I gave it a meh+, I appreciate the we got cancelled jokes, but they put in about 15 too many of them. The feel of the characters was the same, and the call backs remained good so I do have high hopes for future episodes.

I agree... i was very excited about this coming back, but it has been a disappointment so far....

but i will say futurama is one of those weird GREAT shows though... because it has so much heart, that sometimes, even the non funny episodes can be hits...

I think they have been trying to do that too much this season so far... too much nostalgia, not enough funny....

I think one of the issues is that the show acknowledges time has lapsed but no one has changed. Fry spending his whole life watching TV would matter a bit more if he was older. Having all of the cast older and the robots the same age would've made sense. Could've introduced new characters and had new jokes.
