Didn't really want to start a new thread for this, so I thought I'd put it here...

I just read that the Hawks have waived Jesse Williams. It's a shame that his career was never able to get off the ground here due to injuries and illness, but I do hope he gets and stays healthy and can catch on with someone.

Damn Shame. Hopefully some other teams finds his talent and unleashes it

On the TE front, I'm hearing Rhett Ellison is not going to be re-signed in Minny. No clue why as he's a vicious blocker and developing as a receiver. Recruited by and brought to USC by PC. I guess we've tendered Helfet but Ellison would be a huge blocking upgrade in the run game.

Ted Larsen and Cam Thomas (OT and DT respectively) are visiting Seattle today.

Larsen played guard for Cards... doesn't appear like he'd be much of an upgrade, moreso a replacement for Sweezy, hopefully cheap. Thomas would prob. be a Red Bryant type player... 335 lbs, complete run stuffer which would basically replace Mebane with how Mebane played in '15. That means either Jordan Hill or we draft a pass rushing DT or we go back to shifting Bennett inside and grab another edge rusher for passing downs (maybe why the interest in Clemons?).

That's what I was thinking when I considered life without Mebane. Now, when they shifted Bennett inside back in '13, I believe it was in the spot that Rubin currently occupies, so I don't know if they would shift Bennett into Mebane's spot and keep Rubin where he is or move Rubin over when they move Bennett inside, but I do like the idea of having Bennett rush the passer from the inside from time-to-time.

The Seattle Seahawks officially re-signed exclusive rights free agent DB DeShawn Shead.

Shead, 27, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Portland State back in 2012. He was on and off of their practice squad in the first two years, but has made the 53-man roster in each of the past two seasons.

In 2015, Shead appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks and recorded 55 tackles, one sack, an interception, two forced fumbles and eight pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 93 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.

It's things like this that really irritate me about Pro Football Focus. I know he's not a top CB, but there is no way that Shead is a bottom 1/5 corner last year.

Seahawks GM John Schneider mentioned during an interview on KJR-AM (per Bob Condotta) that they do not want to spread out retired RB Marshawn Lynch‘s cap hit to 2017.

  • Condotta mentions that the Seahawks plan to place Lynch on the reserve/retired list by June 1.
Many have wondered why Lynch hasn’t officially retired from the NFL, despite announcing several months ago that he was calling it a career.

It’s worth mentioning that Lynch reportedly has yet to file his retirement papers, which has held up the process.

As of now, Lynch counts $11.5 million against their 2016 salary cap, according to OverTheCap.com.

Lynch, 29, has two years remaining on his three-year, $31 million contract that included $12 million guaranteed. He would make base salaries of $9 million in 2016 and another $7 million in 2017.

Lynch will finish his NFL career with 9,112 yards rushing on 2,144 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with 252 receptions for 1,979 yards receiving and 83 total touchdowns for the Seahawks and Bills.

Lynch was a five-time Pro Bowler and made one first-team All Pro team in 2012. He also helped the Seahawks win a Super Bowl in 2013.

Why take the hit for lynch this year? We wont have many FA to sign after the season, and probably wont be extending anyone from the 2013 draft until the year after that.

Always better to get the money off the books now rather then later. Never know, may need that money next off season for FA's in need.
