Kareem Jackson got $20MM guaranteed. Maxwell at $23.5MM is not an overpay. It might be undermarket, with some absurdly inflated year 5 and 6 base salaries he will never see.

That's about the same ballpark most of us projected. We'd have to overpay for this guy and we did. He's proved to be a good corner, but obviously not 25mill guaranteed good (that's shutdown corner money)….though that's the market we're in right now. He has the size, physicality and athleticism we covet at CB…and unlike Nnamdi, Maxwell got a ton of passes thrown his way and did a very nice job. If we get McCourty as well, we'll make the job of the corners much easier -- just like Seattle does.

Such is the free agency lifestyle. Cutting Williams so soon may have been a misstep but it's not like the trouble he had with Chip is a surprise. The football world was more than aware of how bad are corners were.

Looks like the Eagles are being reported all over the place, that concerns me. I still feel the pain from 2011.
With so much banter one can come to one of two conclusions, either the reports are bogus or the Eagles are attempting to fill every hole knowing they will have limited picks after trading up for MM.

I will always have some sort of doubt considering how 2011 went with free agents - overspending in FA can always come back to bite you but I think in this case, the Eagles are trying to address needs this time and not only that but in 2011, those free agents didn't have much time to prepare with the Eagles because of the lockout, so this time, the new free agents will have plenty of time to prepare with their new teams

Not sure why Maxwell getting over paid is a surprise to anybody ... that's what happens in free agency. Is Maxwell a #1, #2, #22? Who cares ... he's a huge upgrade from the 2 shmucks we were throwing out there last year. Hell, Cary Williams getting paid anything over a mil was a gross over pay ... Maxwell's a guy who got thrown on because he played with the league's best Corner and did an excellent job all year. Now he's heading into his prime years and we have him locked up ... I'm nothing but excited about landing him.

Maxwell got just about what most of us thought he would. 5mill a year for Franky is too rich for my blood, but we need a proven vet that can take the majority of the snaps in our RBBC.
