@Raymon_Minor0 is Raymon Minor

four star shooting guard from Patrick Henry in Ashland, just outside of Richmond.

6'3", 190

attended the football camp today

My bad on his stars. Those were fan rankings on his Rivals page.

Seems to be more like a two or three star BBaller.

"Got it. And yes, I know I sounded like Fooz for a second there."

Shameful. So very shameful. Do not stray from the flock

Sorry I don't share your "sky is falling" philosophy, Chicken Little. Aren't most of your pessimistic peers preparing for the apocalypse this year?

I remember watching Ken Oxendine beat UAB, Loren Johnson (RW34's HS coach) toss me his wristband, and keeping an Al Clark-signed football. I will root for a MNC like a Hokie, not like a 'Bama fan.

When VT starts winning the big games I'll take more pride in the recruiting...mmmkay?

I'm going to assume that sounded better in your head; here it's clearly backwards. The reason "big" games are big is because they mold the perception of your program on the national stage, in front of casual fans, haters, and RECRUITS. This isn't the Yankees (or Auburn), where we can throw money at a few superstar players and ride them to the top despite generally underachieving. It is also not the NBA, where there's 5-6 good players every year, you put only 5 on the floor, and the best ones play for 15 years. There's no such thing as a can't-miss CFB recruit.

Boise didn't squeak by us because we lacked star power. We faded against Bama because we were outplaying the best team in the country. Michigan's true star, Robinson, was almost a non-factor, and unheralded Danny Coale (briefly) won us the game. Kansas sure as hell didn't beat us with a bunch of stars. If you're reaching all the way back to LSU/Glennon to make your point, then you live in a very lonely world.

When FSU comes to Blacksburg, we will beat their 5-stars with our better coached, hungrier 3- and 4-stars. That's VT football as we know and love it. Please keep in mind that most here are not bandwagon fans... They've watched the building of a program and know (a) it's still on an upward trajectory, and (b) it's being done the right way. Maybe Hand and Brown come to VT. Shit, I hope so. In the meantime, though, I'll take Grimm, Coale, and Maddy, and you are welcome to go be a Miami fan if you'd like a team of born talent and not learned, earned skill.

Am I the only one shocked that neither UVa or VT picked up a commitment following yesterday's events at each school?

That, my friends, is what we call a fair-weather (or jaded) fan.

You win big games by playing in them. While I'd like to see VT win more of those, there is zero question in my mind whether they'll eventually start winning them. VT has gotten better every year. They are a different team than they were 20 years ago.

While I can somewhat understand the frustration, I don't really understand the simplistic analysis.

Not sure on UVA but VT did not give out any offers at camp and the one guy that could have jumped did not make it to Blacksburg due to a conflict...

Most of the time when VT loses there is a big talent gap. Boise was more talented than us.

One thing I think most on here don't realize is that I like most of the recruits in the last 2-3 classes since I've been following recruiting. But I like some players that we didn't get better. The only difference is I type it you guys just think it

We all think there are players out there we didn't get that we would have really liked to land and we have said that on here. Your evaluation of recruits doesn't seem to support your above statement (saying they are too slow, too short, too small constantly) without talking about the more important aspects of their game.

Once again, a certain poster hacked angrily at his keyboard prior to doing his homework.

I compiled the player-rankings below from the FREE side of Rivals prior to the Boise St.-VT game. It's pretty easy to tell which team had the most talent, at least from a Rivals stars perspective.

BSU-VT Rivals Player Rankings, 2005-2010:
=========================================

BOISE STATE:
--------------

Year-5-4-3-2-NR
---------------
2010:0-1-6-3-0
2009:0-0-11-10-0

I think draft selections is a better show of talent than recruiting rankings. But draft rankings should also be at least a 4 year break down because some years some schools put 7 guys in the NFL and 3 the next just based on class staging.
