Good game. I think this series will go the distance.

Congrats to ex-Flyer Justin Williams on the winner.

That was over quick.

Now I just hope Toronto wins game 6 and tires Washington out some before the next round.

Going to be extremely controversial obviously. It was about as close to a knee on knee hit (without being one) as you can get. Knee on shin at point of contact and backside following through hip/thigh.

You can see Ron cringing or shrugging a bit when Don says "It's a beauty, It's a beauty" and I totally get that.

Maybe it's just me, but I often wonder why Komarov even wears a visor...

I'm sure you know this, but at this point the answer is probably "because the league requires him to". I believe that Komarov lost the option to go visorless when he left the NHL in 2013-14.

I say "probably" above only because he actually wore a visor (and properly) with the Leafs back in 2012-13 when he wasn't required to, so who knows if he would even drop it if he were allowed?

No, I didn't know this with Komarov in particular, but it makes sense. I like how Don Cherry was discussing the cut on his nose and how his visor caused it. I'm thinking that wasn't actually the case given that his visor is more of a bill to a hat than an actual visor...Lol

Unless his visor was mashed down into his nose from above via a hard crosscheck....wait...

I didn't like the Kadri hit but I don't think it was as malicious as it first seemed. Glad OV got back out there.

The goalies were both fire last night.

Gotta get to that game 7 now. They can do it.

BTW Marner has been terrible
That line hasn't been good but he looks like the one youngster who totally ran out of gas. It would be one thing if he just wasn't playing well offensively but he's making a lot of errors and giving away the puck at terrible times. It wouldn't surprise me if a quarter of the odd man rushes the Caps get starts with a Marner turnover.

The Post had a really good article about the hit showing the opinions of many hockey experts and they were about 50/50 on dirty vs a good hip check. Looking at it again several times, I can see how you could interpret it both ways.

At the game, they zoomed in Ovechkin back on the ice before the period started and the crowd gave a huge standing OVation. It was one of the best moments I've been a part of at a live game.

He's 19 going on 18, he's still a child. He's going to be awesome.
Nobody is saying he won't be.

It's just obvious that he's worn out. If he's gonna stay on that Bozak-JVR line, one Babcock relies on pretty heavily, he may want to try to jump start him somehow - get him some PP time or something. What they're doing now isn't working.

I think after the Leafs have finished winning the Stanley Cup this year it's going to come out that Marner's hand/wrist is hurting more than they've let on. Of course that still doesn't solve the issue in the short-term though, so I'm still with you on this one  But I think he's hurting. He doesn't seem to be shooting much at all, even when he has the puck in a decent spot it seems like he's looking to pass.
