FSU is a good example of how to come up. They didn't sit around complaining about nobody will come to our stadium, they traveled to get the kind of games they needed.

As Oklahoma and Nebraska fans we were spoiled back then. A lot of the teams that you'd have thought were always good were pretty bad at times back then.

LSU, Florida, VA Tech, Clemson, South Carolina.

When I would see them I'd assume they were 8 win teams or better, then I'd click on them and they'd be 4-8. :L

They had their good teams, but they had some real bad ones too. Even though they were Independent, FSU played the same teams a lot.

The one thing I noted was that FSU invested back into it's program. They would truly play anyone anywhere for $$$$

No offense, (I'm still trying to get something out of my ass), but I fully believe many know that Florida State and Miami travelled greatly to build their programs. Basically from the Boise State ground up.

However, they did have some advantages in supreme local talent.

I'd also like to mention that they, unlike Boise State, changed the entire landscape of college (and pro) football with fast, faster, and fastest players.

Bobby Bowden and Schnellenberger, and Jimmy Johnson changed college and the NFL forever.

Nonsense.

It's the conference affiliation dragging Boise down.

FSU was Independent and it freed them up to schedule 7-8-9 big games a year. Even if LSU was 4-8 it was still a big money game. FSU may have lost 2-3 even 4-5 games a year, but they just kept adding on.

Boise wants it all now, in a weak conference, putting very little back into the stadium.

Why is a Nebraska fan getting on Boise State for no reason? Boise State has been a better program during the BCS era.

Win %:
Nebraska: 143-65 - 69%
Boise State: 171-34 - 83%

BCS bowl apperances:
Nebraska -2
Boise State - 2

BCS bowl wins:
Nebraska - 1
Boise State - 2

Number of wins against teams ranked in final AP Poll in last decade:
Nebraska - 7
Boise State - 8

Yes FSU while an independent would play anyone, anywhere, at anytime. But the link is really wrong. FSU did not field its first team in 1956. It was in 1947 when the school was made co-ed again after being shut down as a co-ed college in 1905 to make Florida.

And Nebraska plays:

Florida Atlantic
McNeese State
Fresno State
Illinois
Northwestern
Purdue
Rutgers
Minnesota
Iowa

Wisconsin and Michigan State are obviously good games though. But still that is 8 gimmie games right there.
