In a nut shell what have I missed? I have been so busy working that I have not had the chance to even watch football games. Anyways what has been up on the board since I have been gone? Also I should have an update on the cap for next year coming soon. Like the extension for Orlando Scandrick, looks to be good at least with the numbers being reported. If Ware does not play better as much as it pains me to say this, he could get a pink slip would save 8MM on next years cap and 17.5MM on 2015's cap.

Welcome back .... I posted a cap update a few weeks back.

As far as what has been going on ..... Same shit as on ESPN the last few weeks.

Win a game we are going to beat everyone ... lose a game it's time to blow up the team. Stupid bullshit.

I was doing exams and havent posted alot lately ... but from what I've read. Talking shit about someone's family is now allowed.... as well as trolling ..... So yeah becoming ESPN all over very quickly

we would save 25.5 mil in the next 2 yrs if Ware is gone? He might be gone then (if we were the pats)
Not to sure Jerry would get rid of him, but imagine if we could trade him to a bowl contender, instead of releasing. I would be in favor of it.

I dont think we could fit him in next year ... already over 12 million in dead cap space..... but he is certainly cutable after next year

question would be .... defensive line isnt great now .... have to replace Ware and both D Tackles ..... over the cap and having to do it through a draft.....

Nah Ware aint going anywhere this offseason

oh. I was just going off what Net posted. He said it would give us 8 mil. in 14' & 17.5 in 15' if I read it right. I know we are in cap hell & if it gave us 8 mil in relief. I could see him going away. Of course I don't expect Ware to be gone but if this is all true I would see a real GM pulling this trigger to not lose younger players. If him not on the team doesn't give any relief (if I am reading this wrong) then no way he is gone.

as much as it will hurt some Cowboys fans to hear .... This team only has 2 tradable players.

Dez and Smith.
Dez is potential
Smith is there already at his young age with the best Left Tackles in the league.

So even those thinking replace Romo .... That Left Tackle (especially at his age and not having injuries) Smith is a guy you have to find a way to keep.

Uness we win a playoff game .... I am 100% for trading Dez ... hopefully for the same we got in the Williams trade (both based off potential) 2 1st rounders

a PS on the end of that

Smith would probably have more trade value than any player in the league this year........ Minus CJ being released (which isnt going to happen)

Thats just how good the kid is

We cant go backwards on the O-line. In fact I am in favor of spending a 1st day pick on the OL or DL of every draft
. We now have a center & a tackle to build the OL on. Need some help on the DL. Basically of your list. That leaves Dez as our only trade bait. No way we get rid of our LT.
Also I am not saying we will/would be able to trade Ware. But if a superbowl contender is looking for a pass rush artist as a final piece of a puzzle for one year. I can see a team biting on Ware for his 2014 salary. I am guessing it is 8 mil. Honestly don't know

Thing is that wouldnt be an early trade .....

That wouldnt happen first few weeks or a season with Dallas saying we cant win or make him work in this defense .... and the other team losing someone and thinking they are that player away ....

Possible .... Not likely

DeMarcus Ware cap situation:

Ware agreed to alter some of his 2011, 2012, and 2013 salaries to bonuses. He was paid the same amount of money that he would have received if those bonuses were part of his salaries in those years but for cap accounting purposes the money was pushed back to later years. Consequently he has a 2014 cap figure of $3,253,750 on top of whatever he earns in 2014. He is due to earn $12,250,000 in salary and a roster bonus of $500,000. Starting from there:

Projected 2014 earnings: $12,750,000
Projected 2014 cap figure $16,003,750

Obviously he could be cut which would save the non-guaranteed $12,750,000 and reduce the cap figure to $3,253,750. However, it's not just 2014 in which Ware has a cap hit from the earnings that were altered from salaries to bonuses. He also has a projected 2015 cap hit of $3,253,750, and hits of $1,032,000 in both 2016 and 2017. These hits will still have to be accounted for even if he is cut. If Ware is cut or traded before June 1st 2014 all of his outstanding hits will be brought forward into 2014. IE:

2014 cap figure to keep Ware on current deal: $16,003,750
2014 cap figure with Ware cut/traded before June 1st: $8.571,500

This is not as bad as it 1st seems. Releasing Ware would reduce cap space in 2014 but free it in later years. It's likely that Romo or other players could move part of their 2014 cap figures back into the vacated space. It would genuinely save all $12,750,000 over 3 or 4 years.

This is the worst case scenario based on the Cowboys parting ways with Ware before June 1st and without renegotiating a lower deal. If the Cowboys could get under the cap for the start of the year, (with Ware counting for $16,003,750) without cutting/trading him they could release him after June 1st. This would leave the Ware cap situation like this:

2014 cap hit: $3,253,750
2015 cap hit $5,317,750

It's not impossible but it would be difficult. The ideal scenario is that Ware agrees to an amicable release with the Cowboys that wouldn't become official until June. In the meantime he agrees to a temporary salary cut to the league minimum, (around $1M), to lower his cap figure by $11,250,000 until his release. I should stress that he's under no obligation to do so and he has nothing to gain by it - thus it shouldn't happen.
More likely is a renegotiation between the Cowboys and Ware with Ware agreeing to a reduced package including a low salary with the rest as a restructure bonus. Hypothetically if Ware accepted a deal of $4M, with a $1M salary and $3M as a bonus, (over 4 years for cap purposes), only $1.75M of that money would count towards the cap in 2014 and $2.25M would count towards later years.

Cut Ware? We don't need to cut Ware we need to keep him healthy. We all realize the reason he is not playing well is because he's not healthy, don't we? The poor pass rush we've seen the last half of the season will be an every week occurrence if you cut Ware. Cutting Ware because the pass rush stinks is like cutting Sean Lee because the run defense stinks when he is hurt...
