According to at least one local report, Texas will place Neftali Feliz on the 15-day disabled list today with an elbow injury. Results of a Monday morning MRI exam are reportedly pending. Texas will evidently move Scott Feldman into Feliz’s rotation spot and recall right-handed reliever Yoshinori Tateyama from AAA Round Rock.

Remarkably, this will be the first roster move the Rangers have had to make all season.

Or will we see Texas become players for Oswalt on a 1 yr deal? I would rather do that than move Feldman into the rotation for a longer part of the season. Feldman just isn't that good.

IMO Feliz needs more work in the minors anyways. He looks like a minor league flame thrower out there.

Hopefully Oswalt has got something left, if that's the case. If not I think Feldman will be okay.

Heard that Feliz was Put on the 15 Day DL. Might not take till the All Star Break. Will Definately be out 3 Weeks to a Month. Feliz will have to Rehab at Round Rock a Start or Two before He can come back.

Oswalt would be far more than adequate as a number 4 or 5 to replace Feliz. We don't need a #2 or #1. Sign him and give scooter a couple of spot starts and stretch Oswalt out in the minors. Call him up after 3 weeks.

There is still a risk involved with Oswalt. Never has pitched in the AL, and you don't know what He has left. Also the Money is going to be a factor. Oswalt might want a 8 -10 Million 1 Year Contract which the Rangers won't be willing to pay. If Oswalt is still thsi good, then Why hasn't another club signed him by now?

You have no idea what the rangers are willing to pay. He got some offers he turned down.

Oswalt had a good 2010 season, he's not far removed from greatness. I think the only reason nobody has picked him up is nobody wants him long term. A one year deal could end up being a great move for us if we go that route.

Rangers have said before Spring Training that they were tapped out when they signed Napoli to His 1 Yr 9 Million Dollar Contract. If all this was so simple Oswalt would have been here already. Don't believe too many teams really offered Oswalt a contract because He wanted a lot of money even for only 1 Yr.

They didn't sign him because they were committed to Feliz. Feliz is out till the all-star break possibly. They can come up with 7-8 million on a one year deal. And Oswalt wants to pitch here.

Can't see them giving him a one year deal when he's missed all of ST and the first month and a half of the season. At hius age, it would be the end of June before he is game ready. Not sure he would be a vast improvement over Feldman anyhow. JMO

IMO Feldman just isn't that good as a starter. Oswalt has been throwing. If they signed him today he could be ready by the middle of June.

It is going to be minimum of 15 days ... but that can last as long as team wants until he's ready. Position players once they go on their rehab start get 20 days to be ML-ready... pitchers get 30 days.

So assuming he's okay and gets a good medical bill of health ... we're looking at 45 days. TEX is going to use this time to get Feliz into ML SP readiness ... in lieu of the time he could have gotten by an assignment to AAA out of camp.

Moving Feldman into the rotation doesn't hamper the bullpen an awful lot given that his only work was basically to make spot starts. Ogando might have been the more effective and more popular SP option ... but if he was put in that role that would affect the bullpen.

In my opinion only ... other than Feldman who may take this opportunity to reprise his 2009 season ... the other guy on the hot seat now could be Lowe. With Tateyama now on the 25man ... he's going to get playing time from somebody ... most likely Lowe ... and while this is a month and a half away for Feliz to return ... Lowe has to make sure it's Tateyama that goes back down and not him.

I have more confidence in Feldman at this point than Feliz ... so am not at all surprised with the move TEX is making.

But the Question remains if Oswalt may be would accept a 3 - 5 Million one yr deal to pich here. If He really wants it that bad. A lot of Pride involved here. Oswalt might not accept that if the Rangers don't want to go 7 - 9 million on a 1 yr deal.

So you think this is just a way for the organization to avoid publicly demoting Feliz so he can polish in the minors?

Why would they demote him? 3-1, 3.16 ERA, 1.2 WHIP. He's been our best pitcher after Darvish. It's the lefties that look like they need some polishing.

He's had a couple good starts early. He's shown his lack of experience lately.
