Coach K did a HORRIBLE job coaching this year, plain and simple. The man has a roster STACKED full of McDonald's All Americans......he gets ridiculously favored calls, like the Grayson Allen trippings this year that resulted in no suspensions.......and usually most teams facing his see an increase in calls against them.
Duke got all the calls in last year's NCAA Championship game.

If Tyus Jones returned instead of going to the NBA, and Jefferson doesn't get hurt(averaged a double-double), then we wouldn't be having this discussion. Duke lost their Top 5 players from a Championship team a year ago. When Kentucky did the same thing in 2013 after coming off a National Title, Robert Morris beat them in the first round of the NIT. Remember? On that team? Kyle Wiltjer, Willie Cauley-Stein, Alex Poythress, Nerlens Noel, etc. Coach K got at least got them into the Sweet Sixteen no matter who the fuck they had to play. Those teams beat somebody not good enough to make it. And Oregon was pretty damn good too. Damn, Duke was going to get beat by somebody sooner or later. But because they didn't get a Final Four Coach K did a terrible coaching job? How many teams would have loved to reach a Sweet Sixteen for their season but didn't? Pretty much all of them except 8 teams, right? The 8 that won those games? I bet you don't hold yourself or your team to that high of a standard.

to be fair Noel was OFY way before the NIT.

Duke got all the calls in last year's NCAA Championship game.

I didn't think the game was poorly officiated until the very end.

Missing Justice Winslow stepping out of bounds is flat out unacceptable (especially when it was like half his foot) and blowing the replay was just undefensible. And that was like a 5 point swing between those calls.

Alot of teams would've been better had their first round picks came back.

2012 Uconn would've been a lot better had their PG come back...but after carrying the program to 11 straight wins to end the previous season, he skipped off to the NBA too.

He didn't get hurt until February 12th of that year. Similarly to be fair, Duke's returning 7th best player from a Title team got hurt before Christmas.

Comparing Jefferson to Noel is a bit ridiculous though.

Noel was the consensus 1-1 before the injury.

Jefferson will be lucky to ever see an NBA court.

I'm not comparing them. You brought up the fact that Noel was hurt that season. Not until February 12th. Hell, that's 75% of the season he played.

This is exactly what I meant when I said Duke got all the calls. It was so blatant.

They went 4-5 without him, including some bad losses.

They were making the tournament before that injury.

It's still only 2 calls.

The main reasons wisky lost is that for some godforsaken reason Bronson Koening and the other guard thought they were the best players on the team in the second half and starting jacking up long 3s instead of letting their best players put the game away.

Plus they let Allen burn them over and over again when they should've been putting the clamps down and putting the game away.

Those calls, while incredibly suspicious, just finished Wisky off.

It's quite ironic how Wisky lost because the only reason they beat Kentucky was that the Harrison twins (again for some godforsaken reason) thought that they were the best players on the floor and started throwing up wild shots when they had the chance to put Wisky away.

We can agree to disagree on this.

I'm curious what you saw during that game. They needed to run that entire offense through Kaminsky. They went up like 9 and began to ignore him.

And Duke lost four games in the ACC in a row after Jefferson went down. There was a bunch of criers saying Duke was an NIT team. Regardless, Duke won 25 games and beat two #1 seeds after he went down.

Kaminsky was being manhandled and Wisky was forced to shoot from outside.

On the flip side, they had more time to adjust to playing without him.

And frankly, that Kentucky team had zero depth. Man, I just looked at that roster, it's ugly. A couple of decent guys, and then nothing.

Okafor wasn't even in at this key time. He was out with foul trouble. Hell, even let Decker go his drive with accompanying 4 step travel he'd done all tournament.

And the results were 8 teams did better than Duke in the nation this season. 68 did better than Kentucky under similar circumstances.

The two thugs on Kaminsky did everything but throw him to the floor. It looked like a Rugby scrum.
