I disagree somewhat. I like Randle's intensity and hustle every night that he plays. He could easily be played with Nance. Keep Randle at PF, put Nance at the SF (would present match-up problems for other teams) and get a guy like Whiteside in FA for the five backed-up by Black. Don't trade Randle for anybody. That is one helluva front court. With Russell and Clarkson in the backcourt we have one helluva starting young team.

You make solid points. Assuming the Lakers keep the lottery pick though, I think I'd prefer to see a frontcourt of:

C - Whiteside (maybe keep Hibbert as a backup?)
PF - Randle
SF - Simmons, Ingram or Jaylen Brown

Then have Nance coming off the bench to backup both forward spots.

If the Lakers can land at the 4th pick that would be a small step towards making everything right in the NBA again.

That would work as well, TJF12.

Kobe had another huge night in New Orleans including hitting a game-winning three. Don't look now but the mamba is back and we have won two-in-a-row!

It was a nice shot deep from three all net!

Just the next shot from three he took was obvious and a miss. I understand he was using the clock but the Pelicans went back down and nearly converted the 3 point play the old fashioned way to cut the lead to 2 points with 20 something seconds left and the shot clock turned off.

After way too much time ticked off the clock, the Pelicans finally foul and Kobe makes only 1 of 2 from the line giving Nola one last chance to send it to OT.

We dodged a bullet from Nola mismanagement, and the end of the game 'hero ball' almost bit us in the ass!

Either way, good game overall and we are now on a win streak!

Could not believe what I was seeing when the Lakers inbounded the ball and the Pelicans all retreated and set up on defense like there was plenty of time left. Not sure where the breakdown occurred, but Gentry looked pissed.

I just don't understand as a NBA player, how you don't recognize the situation and the need to immediately foul? It's like they've never been in that situation before.

Yeah, that's not something a coach should even have to tell them. It's basketball 101.

Just delays the prospect by a year (although the Lakers would not be picking as low in the lottery if they get 2 max contract free agents this summer).

I just want your pick now. We're asset greedy in Philly. About to add three lottery picks (Saric, Embiid, Simmons!) to the squad next year and I'm looking for that 4th and 5th

I could see Buddy Hield in the discussion as well if the Lakers keep their pick.

Only problem is, he's a guard, so the Lakers would likely have to move Clarkson or Russell. Plus, the Lakers need an SF and the guys who most seem to think will be the top 3 picks are all SF's.

SF can be filled via free agency this summer (Batum?).

I don't think Russell or Clarkson are true SG options. Russell should be PG, Clarkson could back up both positions (6th man type role).

Lakers still have plenty of holes, need to draft whomever they feel is the best prospect available.

How soon does the first of this cache of prospect assets start to force their way out via free agency? There has to be a light at the end of the tunnel for these top prospects to want to stay.

The kids play hard every night.

I guess the first guy to FA would be Noel. We'll be loaded by then in the front court.

Top 3 pick is too high for Hield. He's like 22 or 23. Most likely he's already close to his ceiling which isn't star level. I think he'll be similar to JJ Redick in the pros, a very nice player btw, but you're looking for max potential with a top 3 pick

He's definitely not that low. He's being mocked in the 5-11 range currently (5 on nbadraftnet, 11 on draftexpress).

The top 2 are relatively easy. Who do you feel is in the discussion for #3? Below that doesn't really matter for the Lakers, as they would lose the pick. I can't see them picking Dunn (another PG) or Bender. I like Jaylon Brown, but his perimeter game has a long way to go.

If the Lakers would land #3, I feel the best option would be a trade. Heck, maybe Philly would want it for one of the two dozen bigs they have!
