The Eagles are expected to sign free agent RB Ryan Mathews, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports.

Well that came together quickly. Initially, Garafolo reported that Mathews was only coming in for a visit. Apparently talks between the two sides were further along than he had anticipated. The Eagles flirted briefly with DeMarco Murray on Tuesday but they were never going to beat Jacksonville or Oakland in a bidding war. Mathews flashed talent during his up and down stay with San Diego, but his durability is a huge question mark. He's only played all 16 games once in five seasons. He'll be the featured back in Philadelphia with Darren Sproles seeing most of his work on passing downs.

If he's right, we could be maximizing talent vs. cost by adding injury prone guys who won't get hurt because they're taking better care of themselves. If he's wrong, we'll have to issue our 53 jerseys to 150 guys before the end of next season.

Well we went through 5 years of "fuck he's hurt again but man what a talent" here in SD. The last thing Mathews needs is to sign with the team that wants to lead the league in the number of offensive plays run. Did I mention he's a fumbling machine and can't pass block?

Definitely goes in the category of "huge risk with good upside". Good luck. I honestly hope the guy has a decent career. He's a good person, just fragile.
