NBA is full of weak players. They need a hard cap. End this madness. Its so pointless to watch the NBA. U know who will be in the Finals every year.Explain?...you want the players to give up FA rights? What gives?

I guess but isn't it like a dollar for every dollar over? The players are already getting 50% of,revenues. You do something like that and pretty soon you are going to be really screwing yourself over if you're the owner
Weren't you one of the people that said that 73 wins means nothing because they didn't win the title?
Now all of a sudden KD shouldn't play here because they already mafe history without him? You ever thought maybe he'd like to be a part of a team that makes history too?
The cap for 2017-2018 is projected to be around 110 million. You figure Steph and Durant(who I'm assuming opts out) will make a combined 65 million or so. Klay will make 17 million and Green will make 16 million. I'm sure Iguodala will sign for probably 15 million a year or so. Kevon Looney has a 1.2 million dollar option, Damian Jones is about the same 1.2 million and Patrick McCaw will probably be around 700K. That's 116 million on those 8 guys. Then fill the roster out with mid level exception guys and vet minimum guys.
The owner has already said he's willing to pay whatever in luxury tax. Which honestly, is a smart move, because the value of the franchise with Durant being there has exponentially increased. My guess is the final number for 2017-2018 will be about 25-30 million in luxury tax, which isn't that bad IMO.
The issue is that spare guys look better and get more expensive when you are winning. So those lesser players that you called out expecting to take very little will get offers from other teams for a lot more. We see it every year (Barnes for example ), other teams seeing a player on a winning team as more valuable than the players current team.
However, the upside will be that the Warriors won't have to be giving up picks unless they want to. So as long as they can keep finding the support players in the draft then they could be fine.
I never said winning 73 regular season games meant nothing w/o the title. Nice try. I said the Cavs pulled off the greatest Finals upset ever & beat the greatest regular season team in NBA history. Go ahead...tell me what I just said is wrong.
Coming back from down 3-1 to beat a GS team that was record setting was amazing. I'll play the Homer card though and say Dallas beating the Heatles in their first year was a massive upset as well.
I guess but what happens a few years later when you need to max Green and Thompson? I'm sure the owner CAN do it but I'm guessing he will be losing money to do it. If the max , cap and revenue sharing stays the same anywayThe cap for 2017-2018 is projected to be around 110 million. If they continue to win, sell out every game, sell tons of merchandise and make deep runs in the playoffs -- the owner will make more money to afford to pay luxury tax without cutting into normal profitsI guess but what happens a few years later when you need to max Green and Thompson? That has surely been discussed. Durant would not be there without promises from ownership to keep everyone together. Green is signed on for 4 more years I believe, and they are not letting Klay go anywhere.
The only way this group gets seperated is catastrophic injury or cap rule change.
I'm sure Joe Lacob signed off on this, so he knows full well he'll be dipping heavily into luxury tax spending. It also should be noted Lacob bought the team for 450 million, if/when he decides to sell he'll make over a 1.5 billion dollar profit, because the value of the franchise has increased that much. Paying luxury tax for salaries is well worth it.
True... but that's only relevant if he plans on selling the team in the near future.
If he doesn't plan on selling anytime soon... it becomes a little harder to justify the money... from a pure profits perspective.
For many owners, though, the championships mean more to them than money, anyway. Not sure if Lacob falls under that category but seems like he might.

That's true. I'm just saying the value of the franchise was estimated at 1.9 billion and that was before Durant.
And with the cash flow going into the league, swallowing that luxury tax expenditure will be easier than it other wise would have been.
And I would agree, I think Lacob falls into the wanting to win Championships category.
He also engineered Bosh joining him in Miami, so...Lebron joined a team that didn't even make the playoffs the previous year...Im going to LOL so hard when they still lose
I liked Durant as a player and I understand the need for a ring but I can' t root for GS to win anything.
easy for me. who wants to see LeClown win again...?
I was glad Cleveland got a chance to enjoy a championship. They've had a rough run since 1964.
