I guess I wonder why you see Clemson so sure to be picked. They are (10-2) At Large. If they were a one loss team, sure.

Location mainly, and bowl/conference loyalty. If the Fiesta Bowl wasn't picking last, it'd be a different story.

I got bowl allegiances twisted in the first post

I guess the opinion is the Orange Bowl will pull a Rose Bowl and stay with their conference tie in if possible.

The Orange Bowl hasn't been married to the ACC near as long as the Rose has to the PAC and Big 10.

I could Oregon get the ol' Disney push in to play Bama.

This whole thing could get turned upside down tomorrow anyway.

Either Ohio St, FSU, Baylor, or Oklahoma St could throw another wrench into things.

Is OD off his ban tomorrow?

It's times like this pure gold is created.

Believe Mamba said he might not be allowed back in the general board if he is left off his leash. Might need to start a free OcD petition poll.

Seems this board really needs to figure out how to balance the sandy mangina group vs the non self filtering group. There are some way too easily butt hurt and some who really don't know when to stop. Damn shame to lose someone as entertaining as OcD, but then they eventually let Wallace off his leash so there is hope for OcD? :noidea:

It is looking better.

The last spot will come down to Oregon and a second Big12 school.

To lock up the spot an OU victory in Bedlam tomorrow would all but cement it.

I like the chances of the BCS selecting Oregon over a 1 loss Baylor even. Remember Michigan in 2012. They got in at #14 in BCS because of the TV draw.

WHile Oregon isnt Michigan I think people love watching Oregon play and even more love watching Oregon lose.

I'm not as confident that Oregon is in as some of you all seem to be. There are 6 AQ conferences. The AAC isn't sending an extra. That's 4 spots for 5 conferences.

Clemson to the Sugar seems likely. Michigan State to the Rose Bowl seems likely. Alabama is in. That leaves Big 12 vs Pac 12 for a spot in the Orange Bowl, so who will the Orange want more, Baylor (or Oklahoma if the Sooners win Bedlam) or Oregon? I'm not so sure they pass on the Big 12 team for a Ducks team that's backing into this.

But if Oklahoma wins, then Oky Jr is out. Leaving the Baylor vs Texas winner in as the auto conference champ bid.

Oklahoma is 17 right now in BCS. Not sure the win vs Oky Jr is enough to take the at large from Oregon let alone get them into the required #14 or higher spot

The Big 12 could fuck themselves tomorrow by beating each other up.

Oklahoma only has to move up 2 more spots with the NIU loss. They are functionally #16 at the moment. A 3 loss LSU team and UCF are immediately in front of them. I suspect beating the #6 team in the country on the road would do it.

They might go in front of the Pac 12 CCG loser as well, especially if it's ASU

The problem is the whole Champions Bowl thing.
Remember that the Big 12 and SEC are building a long term partnership similar to the Rose Bowl.

It would look really bad for the Sugar Bowl to select a 2-loss non champion Oregon over a 1-loss Big 12 CO-champion in the CHAMPIONS BOWL designed for the Big 12/SEC champs.

I don't know if the Sugar Bowl wants to completely piss off its future long term partner.

ORegon just needs one of the two to win.

If either Texas or Oklahoma wins, than the Ducks are assured a BCS spot.

Maybe, but the Sugar will wind up with UCF I believe.

Fiesta is where Oregon would go if they do as the Orange appears to be Bama vs Clemson.

The Fiesta picks last. It's Big 12 champ vs. whoever is left. You are assuming that another bowl would voluntarily take UCF, which isn't one that I would make.

That would be soooo bittersweet for Oky... They beat Oky Jr, UT beats Baylor... ANd after all the shit talk from this year from not only Oky fans but everyone... Low and behold the Big12 champ is Texas and they are in the BCS...

:laugh3:

That is what I am rooting for in a bad way. ANd with how this year has gone. It could happen easily.

Yeah, I think the Orange takes them vs Bama.

It is a small chance they would take Oregon. SO Oregon still does need Baylor or Oky Jr to lose to cement the last @ large.

Which I think one of those teams will lose. Hoping anyhow so Sunday night on the Bowl Selection show I am less stressed.

Agreed.

I don't think the Sugar would take UCF unless there was some serious shady dealings.

If chalk holds up there are only 4 unknown variables.
The unknown picks would go in order:
1. Orange
2. Orange
3. Sugar
4, Fiesta

The Sugar Bowl would really have to go off the rails to crazy train to select UCF.
UCF seems destined to go to the Fiesta.

The real drama is in picks #2 and #3 if you assume ALABAMA goes in spot #1.
Picks 2 and 3 will be some combination of Oregon, Clemson, Big 12 team.

Clemson would have a very weak case.
The only thing that would be in their favor is the conference tie-ins.
Oregon would be higher ranked.
Clemson is coming off a second beatdown loss and has zero ranked wins.
The entire country has been clamoring for ALABAMA-OREGON for a long time coming.
The ratings for the Ducks versus Tide would be astronomically high.
