Apples to Oranges for sure. The Blazers of 77' played much better team defense back then than the 14' Heat do today. Heat better team offense.

In their prime, may just be a good series to see.:noidea:

Not to change the subject, but that team defense would spell disaster for the Heat. They'd gladly settle for 18' pull-up jumpers because the Blazers would punish them in the paint. If the Heat don't hit 52%+ on jumpers, they lose.

The greatest era of individual Americans is coming to a close now by age. I will have to find Dan's commentary today about Jack and listen to him talk, sure it was ALL GOOD.

All the good ones are dying and being replaced with this.

I agree Hammer...Oooo what I really know and could share with the 5 on this topic. Only in private tho, not here, not now.

But I am good with the other 4 on here as well. Glad that the Blazers won last night and let Jack head off with 1 more smile before he left.

It was actually how I found out. I turned it on a couple of minutes late. It was obvious he was choked up about something, then he finally said that Dr. Jack Ramsay passed away.

TF12...Could you find me a link for a Dan replay on that subject. I never listen to the radio and have no cable. Not sure who he even works for now...ESPN?

Guess I could Google if you can't.

Tanks

Just listened to Dan..."Jack Ramsey was everything good about the NBA."

Couldn't agree more with DP. Well said and so very true. I will get to think all about my "happy thoughts" today about the man. Like I said before...the last great era of American individuals is closing now. Jack was all about positives and little about negatives.

How he took 12 players, most with just average talent in themselves and somehow got the most within a team during an era of the NBA with teams like LA, Boston and Philly greats is amazing to still think about today. Jack was definitely a players coach within the true sense. Not many coaches or people in general who can say that. He would have succeeded in anything he chose to do, inside basketball or outside in the private world in my OP.

Jack was ill for a longtime, died in his sleep. Is there any better way to go?

I respect that guy and his life. Can't say that to many others.

Life's weird in ways...

Take the last few days in NBA for example.

On the one hand you have Jack Ramsey and the good he represented in the NBA and his death. On the other hand you have Donald Sterling and all the bad he is currently sharing with us all in the NBA from a few.

It is not hard for me to gravitate towards the good and leave the junk behind. Ramsey still making an impact in the NBA after life while another is bringing down the NBA in life.

One of those amazing but weird things about life to me.

Enjoy the ride...
