that is awesome. We lived a good hour and a half from the city. So getting to go to a Blazer game was a once a year occasion.

But nearly every year Dad took me to one. My first one I remember him taking me down to the floor and getting me my favorite Blazer's autograph (Calvin Natt). I was probably 6 or 7. Then Wayne Cooper came over and talked with me. It was awesome.

My all-time favorite Blazer was Maurice "The Enforcer" Lucas. Everyone knew that you were welcome to fuck around and get tough with any of the Blazers you wanted to, but at the first whistle blow after you did it, Maurice Lucas was going to be at the scorer's table to check in. He was a bad, bad man on the court but loved by all after the final buzzer.

RIP Maurice Lucas

To say I was obsessed with basketball growing up is an absurd understatement. Like I've said before, I lived and died with every Lakers game.

Port was "owned" for the most part by the Lakers thru NBA history except for a few years. Blazers were always chasing the Laker Bigs and trying to draft or trade so as to complete with those Laker clubs of lore...

Good Stuff

I went to Blazer games in 74' on, saw all the greats come thru...graduated HS the the very time that Game6 ended in Portland and they won the title...90+ degrees that day and very hot as I recall.

Walton said Lucas was his best teammate ever.

I remember so many years when Showtime was devastating everyone in the West that either Seattle or Portland was going to get swept in the first round. Those series were just tune-ups to deal with Dallas or Utah in the Western Conference Finals and then meet Boston in the Championship.

Damn, I'd love to have those days back again.

I missed the Walton era. Started with the Blazers at 5 or 6 with Natt, Valentine, Thompson, Jim Paxson, and that bunch.

Love Walton, even with his tenure with the Celtics. One of the greatest Deadheads ever! :smokin:

I will always consider the Lakers as TOP TEIR in the west, has been since time began. I see no reason for anything to change over the long run Hammer. Just a low in the Laker evolution is all right now.

I love to watch those GOW games way back when. The country got 1 game a week and it was always LA against New York or Boston...

I remember following the Heat in the early 90's and until this day, Dr. Jack Ramsay still remains my favorite broadcast announcer. As mentioned before, it's a shame his death is being overlooked by the Sterling story that's just grown tiresome.

Big Red, to this day, is bitter about being overshadowed by Kareem's legacy in Westwood and with the Lakers. Big Red always wanted to play for the Lakers and was never able to. His obsession is so obvious cause he can't discuss anything without it somehow involving Kareem or the Lakers. It's a shame really.

That Blazers team isn't even recognized by today's fans. I'd dearly love to see that basketball team play the 2014 Heat.

I would say Bill Walton has the utmost respect for Jabbar, as he should. Bill got his revenge in 77' and can always say he won the BIG ONE.

KAJ was the best center to ever play the game in my OP, no one could stop the sweeping hook shot or rebound better. Not to mention altering shots anywhere near him.

Great coach, great teacher of the sport and a class individual. When he was a commentator, it was literally impossible not to learn something about the game when he was there.

Can't believe that what should be a celebration of Dr. Jack Ramsay, is being overshadowed by Sterling's idiocy.

Apples to Oranges for sure. The Blazers of 77' played much better team defense back then than the 14' Heat do today. Heat better team offense.

In their prime, may just be a good series to see.:noidea:

Perhaps to most, not in my mind today TF. This is great to be able to talk about Jack and not DS.
