Why not trade pick 3 to Philly. Surely they don't think the Forward from Cal is a better talent then Noel or Okafor?

They don't like Noel. That's really the only reason not to do the deal that was offer. Can't say I blame them personally. I'm not that high on him either. I don't think he ever gets past middling to decent journyman status

I feel the same about Brown. And I'm a Cal fan. Don't get it. All he is to me is super athletic, fast and strong. Not a good shooter, not much handle, etc. Maybe will turn into a lockdown defender I guess. He probably reminds some of Russell Westbrook but I will be shocked if he ever approaches that

I don't like him that much either. I just get why they didn't do the deal. Boston was in a tough spot. Weak draft, no one their roster that many other teams want, etc. Hard to get any of good value back for that. Now if they offered Okafor in place of Noel, Boston definitely should have done it but it sounds like they didn't

His way better than a middling journey man all ready. He will never be a scorer but there are a million scorers in the league. He is a defensive force, shot blocker and rrebounded.People just don't like him cause his limited offensively. I was hoping the traded Okafor. I want to keep the defensive force.

Did you see the stat on the Call guy. Had twice as many turnovers as assists. Led college ball in that poor stat.

Boston really didn't do well last night.

Had tons of picks and assets… and leave with Jaylen Brown a couple foreigners. Just meh.

The problem with what Boston did was that they failed to capitalize on the Dunn hype.

They should have drafted him and they could have put him in a package to acquire Jimmy Butler. Forget Noel and Okafor, that was the play for the Celts. Something like Dunn, Crowder and Boston's future 2018 first rounder might have gotten it done.

Now they are stuck with a good athlete who will someday develop into a 3rd or 4th starter type. When you are on the verge of building a contender, you need to get more out of that pick.

All the hype for Danny boy and all his picks and he ends up with Brown and some draft and stash Euros. Hilarious.

Agree. Ainge did a great job collecting picks. But that's only half the battle. The other half is actually turning them into something. It looks like he has swung and missed on that 2nd part.

I also would have taken Dunn. But Dunn is believed to be a little unstable and has shoulder issues. The hype was high so trading it before the draft would have been best. Danny is starting to stack a bunch of defensive wings with these picks. Hmmm.

why impose that deadline on yourself though?

Picking Dunn gives them 4 more months to negotiate the right deal. In this situation with no clear impact player that fits the Celts roster, they had to select the player with the most trade value. Ainge dropped the ball big time.

I get your point tlance. Brown is super smart and he shot well in his special Celtic workout. He is going to be able to play 3'amd 4 That French freak can play 3,4 and the 5 at 6 foot 8. I think Brad and Danny want a ton of crowders.

I hope it works. I like the way the Celts played last year and they have 2 more chances to hit the top of the lottery. Ainge could be right on Brown, but I also understand why C's fans are frustrated.

Looks like the Butler deal was close. Bulls asked for #3, Crowder, the 16 pick and another future first (clippers pick next year). Celtics would not give up next years firsts.
