I fully believe that Russ gave a "It's either me or them" ultimatum.

Of course he would deny it.

Yes he had a lawyer write and said it was a total fabrication, Seahawks haven't commented on it. No sources cited.

I believe it. Wilson had his own coaches and entourage, he probably wanted to pick the coach or hell be the coach. Dudes ego was far bigger than anyone thought possible.

Yeah, I think he was done playing for Pete, and it started in the 2nd half of the 2020 season when we totally turtled on offense all the way through the playoff loss to the Rams. People say "Russ wanted out" but I think that's inaccurate. He just didn't want to play for Pete any longer, and if the report of him wanting Pete fired is true then that proves it. He wanted to stay in Seattle -- just w/o Pete.

When you say "his own coaches" are you talking about Jake Heaps?

Yup. I think 2020 was when the marriage ended.

And the other part of this is: several of us in here wanted Pete fired too! I was done with him after the playoff loss to the Rams when we basically just didn't try anything aggressive on offense until it was too late. I've softened on that quite a bit, but that's the way I felt at the time and probably through about the midpoint of this past season.

I still think we are better off moving on from Pete. Because I don't think we will ever get past early playoff exit team with him.

But what's done is done. I'll keep hoping that I'm wrong.

Ya Heaps, and I thought he had other "trainers" too.

I don't think it's all that unusual for those guys, particularly the higher profile players, to have personal trainers or specialists they lean on who are not employed by the team. I would agree, however, that having Heaps with an office at Broncos HQ (I don't believe he had one here in Seattle) is not appropriate.

There's absolutely no reason for this to come out unless it's true as far as I'm concerned. Russ is a character, his ego is far beyond anything I ever thought it to be. He never wavered on the field in the worst of times and I think that's due in part of the over abundance of confidence in himself that oozed of ego off the field. You've gotta take the good with the bad I suppose.

Remember Jody Allen's quote when RW was traded?

"While Russell made it clear he wanted this change, he made Seattle proud and we are grateful for his decade of leadership on and off the field," Allen said in a statement. "We look forward to welcoming our new players and to everyone being fully engaged while working our hardest to win every single day. I trust our leadership to take us into the future, and know we all wish Russell the very best."

eh, just another Russell Wilson is the worst person ever article that has been fairly consistently coming out since he was traded. Maybe in a few months we'll hear how he was trying to blackmail Jody Allen into giving him the team.

Yeah, well, I guess that's sort of the gamble Russ (allegedly) took by going to ownership to proposition them about firing the coach. If they don't take you up on it, it isn't ending well.

Absolutely hit the jackpot trading Wilson and retaining Pete and John. So glad it happened.

It's a shame really. He seemed like a good and genuine guy.

I don't know if that c*nt of a wife did anything to fuck him up, or he just thought he was bigger than he really was.
