Yes, dude. But using a percentage for the yards is burying the salient aspect.

8 to 15 is a much bigger deal than 4 to 7.5... Even though the percentages are the same, right.

You would always take the down when the difference is 4 or 7.5 yards despite the percentages being the same.

I am showing a logical way to view it. Now 4th and 7 vs 3rd 15 is an interesting argument. This one isnt. 3 downs to get 8 yards isn't favorable to the defense. 4 to get 13 is pretty much nuetral. There is no advantage gained declining the penalty, because the offense has its entire playbook available. Fact that they will use 4th down changes everything. The argument that they couldn't stop them all game when it's 3 downs to get 10, so they should decide to give them 3 downs to make 8 makes little sense to me

You have a logical argument... It just has nothing to do with percentages of yards. It has to do with the actual yard amounts, as you show in your last post
