Sometimes, having budget restrictions forces you to focus more on story, to make up for shortcomings in the effects. It can be a very good thing to have those constraints. Look at Lucas and the Prequels, he went crazy with expensive CGI, and didn't bother with any story.

I hope they keep their eye on the writing ball when they get the check for 200 million for the sequel.

I think with this things won't ever really be compromised because it's so unique and the R rating won't make them ever go bonkers on the budget. It's just great that it did so well cuz now they can bring in Cable and up the action sequences while also sticking to the character the way they did so nicely.

It was a great origin story. Sometimes they are boring for a lot of the movie but he's such a great character it can't be.

I got to see it today. I thought it was okay. I didn't find it too funny, but not because I was offended. I mean, it was amusing to me, but some people had me wondering if it was Blazing Saddles good. For me, it was not. I really dug his action scenes though. For me, they're already among my favorite of all time.

I'm really hoping Cable works out. If done right, he could be amazing.

I guess Reynolds was trying to get Hulk in Deadpool 2 but he said there is too much red tape to get through.

My kids went to see it the other night with their friends. They thought it was awesome. But they are teenagers and they think a lot of stuff is awesome that I don't particularly care for.

Then again, Every once in a while I will watch a movie on tv that I thought was bad-ass back in the 80's-90's and think wtf?

A younger guy I work with who as far as I'm concerned has questionable tastes flat out loved it.

I went to see it yesterday but every showtime was f ing sold out. Went today and it was still packed. It was worth it I laughed more than I have in quite a while. In fact even if the movie was lacking slightly it made up for it or masked it with humor. I enjoyed how they were able to make fun of themselves and other comic book heroes. There will be many memorable one liners.

I'm glad to see Ryan Reynolds achieve some big-screen success. He starred in a sitcom from 98'-01' called Two Guys & A Girl (along with Nathan Fillion), that never got its due. I thought it was better than Friends. It was definitely a lot funnier that Friends, IMO. It didn't suffer from a lot of the boring, cookie-cutter mainstream sitcom humor. Most of the jokes and one-liners still hold up.
I remember watching that show, agree was better than Friends. Plus it had Traylor Howard

and the budget... He had a "tight" one per Hollywood standards.. Love how he took a shot at, "this big house and all you see are 2 x-men"

My main "complaint" was the inclusion of a hellicarrier, which is a clear Avengers vehicle.

However, I read some poster on some site explain that that was really just another meta-reference to the Marvel world as a whole (MCU/Sony/Fox/Comics). Nothing different from his referring to Samuel L Jackson with an eye-patch or asking which Xavier Colossus wanted to bring him to, Stewart or McAvoy.

Do tell... as I am not one of those geeks. :D

negasonic did nothing for me... they wanted female power, i understand that, just wish it was kitty pryde instead... would have made more sense, as kitty pride and colossus were a couple...

confused about the timeline, was this an origin story that was totally separate from the rest of the x-men movies??

colossus felt strange altogether, was this his first X-men movie??
