Sometimes, having budget restrictions forces you to focus more on story, to make up for shortcomings in the effects. It can be a very good thing to have those constraints. Look at Lucas and the Prequels, he went crazy with expensive CGI, and didn't bother with any story.
I hope they keep their eye on the writing ball when they get the check for 200 million for the sequel.
I think with this things won't ever really be compromised because it's so unique and the R rating won't make them ever go bonkers on the budget. It's just great that it did so well cuz now they can bring in Cable and up the action sequences while also sticking to the character the way they did so nicely.
It was a great origin story. Sometimes they are boring for a lot of the movie but he's such a great character it can't be.
