I know the Cowboys like Lamb but I felt like he didn't take a huge step forward last season. He was solid--79 catches for 1,100 yards and 6 TDs--but not spectacular. If they are counting on him as the #1 it is a risk, though I do like his game a lot.
Odds are Cooper took a lot of Lambs opportunities. Talent wise Lamb is easily a #1, without Coop we'll see if he is one.

Final year under contract and was making $20m per season… You don’t think he would be asking for the same if not more regardless of where he ends up? And if he does get traded then he’ll immediately look to get extended. He’s 27 years old, about to turn 28. This is likely his last chance to maximize a big contract.

Not sayin that’s what he’ll get. But that’s gotta be what he’s thinking
he is under contract for 3 more years. He isnt under his final year. I am sure he wants to be released so he can go get another signing bonus

He's turning just 23 and already producing at the level he is with the plays he makes. He will do more with more targets.

They can also bring back Gallup and draft a receiver.....this draft isn't great for signal callers but it's deep in receivers.

lol... the Jets are interested in everyone. I'm dealing with a herpes flair up, have basically no talent whatsoever, and still got a call from their front office.

You should get that looked at.

And wear a condom next time you're banging another shark.

It is no gaurantee Gallup will be back either. If Gallup gets an overpay elsewhere Cowboys will really need to come down with something from yhe draft.

I have no idea what he may or may not want. He still has 3 years left on his contract and hasn't yet been cut or traded. Cooper is not your stereotypical WR. Guy spends his time playing chess, is very humble and never even really spoke out until this past year. Not sure what is going on in his head. I suspect if he gets traded he'll take his one year guarantee at $20M and figure he can play well enough to earn year 2 or hit the open market with some value. Point is guys are worth more per year on short term deals where there is no long term risk. So 1 year @ $20M for a guy who probably is worth $18M is a darn good deal for a team with cap space and a need for a WR

Imo, the problem the Cowboys have is that Cooper is probably only worth about $18mil for a team that is actually paying their QB while a team that has a rookie contract he might be worth $22-24mil. Cooper is consistently a fringe pro bowl player still in his prime. Lots of teams will want him.

This.

As a Lions fan our team isn't ready to compete this year, so for the most part I would be against any big signings like this. But Cooper is free and clear no dead money if he doesn't work out. Plus if you have his rights you can go to him and his agent and say "Look, I have no problem giving you 20 million this year and then cutting you next year. Do you think you'll get another big contract at 29 years old? Let's restructure, get you some guaranteed money and get us a lower cap number." The worst that can happen is he says no.

He hits the open market and there's no way he's coming to Detroit, so I honestly wouldn't be upset about throwing a late round draft pick Dallas way. Not a lot because they're gonna cut him anyway, but they have to think even a 7th round pick is better than nothing.

Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson reports “there hasn’t been any interest” in trading for Amari Cooper.

Trading Cooper before his salary becomes fully guaranteed on March 20 isn’t expected, leaving Dallas likely to grant his release. Cooper's $20 million salary is high, but the structure is team-friendly with no guaranteed money left and could look better after Davante Adams and other top receivers sign new deals. Cooper’s market stands to benefit with free agents Chris Godwin and Mike Willams expected to re-sign or be franchised. Dallas plans to use its cap savings on Cooper to extend Michael Gallup and Cedrick Wilson, a move that allows them to keep both receivers at less than Cooper’s cap hit.
