I can kind of love with this he was becoming injury prone. I think they have enough receivers and they should focus on getting better on the other side of the ball.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Cowboys are "likely" to release Amari Cooper.

Schefter's report comes a day after the Dallas Morning News' Michael Gehlken speculated Dallas would not retain Cooper in 2022. Due $20 million in guaranteed money, Cooper will probably be released before March 20. Neither team owner Jerry Jones nor his son, Stephen, have publicly supported Cooper after the Cowboys' devastating postseason loss to the 49ers. Outside of a handful of big statistical games over his three years in Dallas, Cooper never lived up to the dominant alpha wideout status the Joneses had expected when they acquired him. Cooper's release would likely mean the Cowboys are leaning toward re-signing Michael Gallup to be the team's No. 2 receiver behind CeeDee Lamb. Cooper's absence would leave about 25 percent of the team's targets vacated -- enough to fuel hopes for a true breakout campaign for Lamb in 2022. Cooper, meanwhile, could be a target hog if he lands in an offense without a true No. 1 receiver

The writing was on the wall when ahole Jerrah threw him under the bus to the media a coupla weeks by saying he had to see more production from him.
Never mind that Dak couldn't get him the ball, he put it all on Coop.

Resign Gallup and Cedrick Wilson for a fraction of what Cooper makes ( cap hit 22 million) and problem solved.

This.

And the WR class in this draft is pretty deep.

They could get Gallup cheap since he's coming off an injury.

I'm hoping they can trade him. He isn't worth his contract to Dallas TBH, but he can be had for 1 year $20M (guaranteed year 1) and then $20M per year afterwards with zero dead money for another team. Seems a good option for a team with cap space that needs a WR especially since they can get out after one year if they choose with no dead money.

I dont really want to see him on the Chargers or Raiders. Hopefully he stays in the NFC.

Good player but a little overpriced. Wouldn’t want to pay him what he wants

You can't pay $20 million for Coop. With the money that save and the Dak restructure, they will keep Randy Gregory, Dalton Shultz and likely Gallup. Draft a WR and move on

I'd be shocked if Gallup didnt cost more than $11M a year on a 2 or 3 year deal. Agholor's contract is his comparison for his agent to start from.

I also think there is a good shot that the Cowboys find a trade partner for Cooper.

$13-$15 mil would be my guess. I feel like he has a market of teams that might be interested.

If he is released Browns need to get in the mix but that also depends on his pricetag. Already probably going WR in the 1st or 2nd. They will lose Higgins and they have absolutely nothing at wideout.

Who is going to trade for an overpriced WR at 20 mill per?

Dallas is probably letting Cooper go to keep Gallup.

They have been shopping him for over a week. No takers. And with that contract, there won’t be either.

Cutting him has been in the cards for months. This is no surprise. Resigning Gallup and/or Wilson is of more importance at this point… especially with the issues at TE.

He's a legit #1 WR at $20.00 million a year over the next 3 years that you can cut at anytime with no cap implications in future years.

Did people miss last offseason? It is essentially a cheaper contract than Golloday got from the Giants minus year one. And again there aren't cap implications for cutting Cooper after year one.
