Wrong... D'Backs and Rockies are in their division. You cannot play a team from your division in the first round. They will be matched up with the NL Central winner.

I thought they did away with that BS?

I'm not aware if they changed the playoff structuring since, but the Cubs played the Cards in the NLDS in 2015. Red Sox played the Rays in the 2013 ALDS.

They got rid of that when they introduced the Wild Card Game 5 years ago and division foes have played each other multiple times since in the divisional series:

2012 ALDS: Orioles vs Yankees
2013 ALDS: Red Sox vs Rays
2013 NLDS: Pirates vs Cardinals
2015 NLDS: Cubs vs Cardinals

It's simple now. The team with the best record plays the winner of the one-game Wild Card playoff. The two others division winners play each other. So the Dodgers will likely play the Diamondbacks or Rockies.

This rule went away with the advent of the play-in game, actually.

Of course this could happen.

As good as the dodgers are, they're still like a 25% chance to win it all vs. the field.

ANY team is going to be an underdog vs. the field.

Yeah really. You'd think people would learn this by now after seeing teams like the 2001-02 A's, 2001 Mariners, 2011 Phillies and every 90s/00s Braves team shit the bed in the postseason.

Fair enough. It's still impossible that the Dodgers lose to either of those teams. You're a fool if you think so, and should be shunned.

I'm sure Jeff Hoffman is going to take down Kershaw and those Dodgers bats. LMAO... Oh, watch out guys! German Marquez is on the hill tomorrow! :pound:

Looks like no exact time frame. They're sticking to the 4-6 weeks.

Initial diagnosis on the 24th of July was 4-6 weeks. It's been two weeks, and most recently Kershaw believes he's ahead of that time frame. He is pushing to begin throwing off of a mound.

Clayton Kershaw - Los Angeles Dodgers - 2017 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that Clayton Kershaw (back) is pushing to throw off a mound, but "we’re trying to temper that."
It's not a surprise that the team's training staff if pumping the brakes, but the fact that Kershaw thinks he's already feeling well enough for mound work is certainly encouraging. Roberts says he's not sure when his ace will be cleared to throw off the bump, but it doesn't sound like it will be too far away.

I mean, I wouldn't bet on it, but this is baseball and it's a 5-game series, anything can happen. Not to mention they will likely be playing either the Diamondbacks or Rockies. 13-9 combined against those two and only 4-6 in the 10 games played on the road against those teams.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they lost in the first round.

I believe most of those games were played before the Dodgers took 1st place in the division and still looked worldly.

He's got another ERA title to think about.

To date, the two best MLB seasons of all-time:
  • 1906 CHICAGO CUBS. Record: 116-36. Manager: Frank Chance. ...
  • 2001 SEATTLE MARINERS. Record: 116-46. Manager: Lou Piniella. ...
The Dodgers sit at 79-32, and are in the midst of a 44-7 run in their last 51 ball games. They would have to go 38-13 the rest of the way to reach 117 wins and set the record.

What say you? Will they do it?
Possible.

FFS, an 83-win Cardinals team once won the WS. Pretty sure the Rockies and D-Backs are better than that team.

Easily the worst WS winner of my lifetime. Followed by all the Giants teams.
